In my country where it feels like it's always summer, people find their ways of an antidote to a hot afternoon. Some go to beaches, others go to waterfalls and to somewhere cold and refreshing, ours was a quick escapade to this another beautiful wonder of nature, the refreshing Cold Spring of Banyan, Tabogon, Cebu, Philippines.
Banyan Cold Spring, Tabogon, Cebu🏞️
Banyan Cold Spring is one of the most beautiful spots lying in the heart of the town of Tabogon. It is the only stunning turquoise cold spring in the town and has an ancient Balete tree right at the side of the pool giving shades to the guests and swimmers. It has gained popularity and has become a perfect quick destination for families and friends.
I was bubbling with excitement as we head to our destination, the Banyan Spring. It's been a long time since I visited the beautiful cold spring. Many have changed. The last time I went there with my siblings, it bears its old name the "Guiwanon Cold Spring". It was so simple and plain back then, with only one huge swimming pool filled with cold spring water and only 2-3 dilapidated cottages due to the weather. The environmental fee at that time was only 20peso($0.35) which goes straight to the maintenance of the place.
Although the place was simple and plain, it still was frequently visited by locals and tourists because of its very cold spring. And what was amazing at that time too was, that the cold spring rises during high tide and becomes shallow during low tide.
Now that it is managed and privately owned, the place has undergone renovations and developments. I've seen how beautiful the place has become on its Facebook page. The old name "Guiwanon Cold Spring" is now changed to "Banyan Cold Spring". Those lovely pictures I saw on the internet added fuel to my excitement. I was stunned by the pictures already how much more if I see them with my own two eyes!
How about letting us be stunned together? Let's have a tour! Taarraaa! 😉
🏞️Banyan Cold Spring.
As soon as we entered this beautiful paradise, I couldn't help myself not to take a glimpse at its new beauty on top. Its turquoise color has the same effect on me. It's soothing and relaxing. We hurriedly descend the stairs to finally see the stunning view.
A sweet smile curved on my lips, a sign that I fell in love with this place all over again. A lot has indeed changed, it has become more beautiful yet it has maintained its natural wonder- the overflowing turquoise cold spring.
🏞️The stunning pools.
The newly developed swimming pools are divided into three chambers and have a mini waterfall at their bottom end.
The main pool which is the source of the cold spring is over 7 feet in depth. Compared to the old pool, this part of the pool now is strictly prohibited to preserve its clear and fresh water coming straight from the mountains. The management secured the area by surrounding it with big potted plants and a rope.
The second pool- my favorite, is the biggest and is the most relaxing. One can enjoy swimming any time of the day in the pool without worrying about the scorching heat of the sun because of the ancient Balete Tree standing beside the pool generously extending its branches to cover and provide shade to people who are swimming. This area of the pool looks enchanted because of the old big tree. This pool also is 5 feet in depth, perfect for adults.
The third pool. I call it the happiest pool because this is where the kids and children enjoy playing and swimming. There are also benches on the side of the pool so kids can sit and relax if they are tired of playing and swimming. The old pool is not as wide as this. It's good that they extended this part of the pool so kids and families could enjoy it to the fullest.
🏞️The Mini-waterfalls.
The water cascading from the source down to the second and third pool formed a Mini-waterfall freely flowing down below that goes directly to the open sea. Many would love to swim at this part because of the mini-waterfall that also provides great photo opportunities.
Another lovely spot in Banyan Spring is the statue of Mother Mary placed at the center of a small overflowing pool. It is surrounded by ornamental plants and crystal clear water.
🏞️The cottages.
Unlike before, the Spring now has plenty of cottages and tents provided for guests. The cottages come in different sizes and rates. Some cottages are good for families, friends, and couples. One can choose which of the cottages they like. Banyan spring also provides Shower rooms and Toilets. One needs not worry about the security and comfort of the place. There is the presence of security guards and lifeguards all over the place.
🏞️The lush greenery.
Aside from the stunning view of the Cold Spring, Banyan spring has lush trees and plants in the surroundings that give fresh air. The cold atmosphere of the Spring will make one doze off. 🍃
