Located in Brgy. Luy-a, Medellin, Northern Cebu, this bamboo forest is about 3-4 hours away from Cebu City. As soon as you arrive, you’ll be greeted with towering green bamboo trees forming a pathway that looks straight out of Asia’s famous destinations. Many say the ambiance resembles Kyoto’s Bamboo Grove in Japan and I definitely agree! Even the calm surroundings give you that Japan drama romantic feels perfect for photo shoots or chill walk moments.
This attraction wasn’t always the beautiful spot we see today. The area was once a simple path lined with young bamboo plants lovingly taken care of by the locals. Seeing how enchanting the place could become, the community worked together to maintain, clean and expand the bamboo area. Their teamwork and dedication helped turn it into one of Medellin’s newest eco-tourism attractions.
Today, the bamboo forest represents community pride and sustainable tourism, encouraging more travellers to explore the beauty of Northern Cebu beyond its popular beaches and islands.

During our visit, we were so happy to see staff and other visitors dressed in beautiful costumes. It suddenly felt like we were walking inside a Japanese film scene the bamboo backdrop made everything look magical.
My friends and I enjoyed every moment from laughing at random poses to capturing that perfect travel shot. Sometimes the best adventures are simple ones: good friends + nature + fresh air = unforgettable memories. Bamboo trees are great in reducing carbon dioxide and help fight global warming. We should take good care of our nature for this is the only hope that we have for the coming generations.
