It's been quite some time that I had not gone on a vacation with my family, so I thought of going on 3 day trip to Ooty and Coonoor as I have never visited these places before.
Ooty is actually known as Queen of Nilgiris and is a very famous tourist destination. Ooty is that place which I have heard a lot about from my friends and everyone has visited it except me. So when we were planning our holidays, we had decided that we will be going to Ooty itself.
So we had planned our vacation in such a way that we will be getting an ample amount of rest too. The problem with 1 day or 2-day trip is that we usually get exhausted, but this time we have allocated much more time including the rest. This was needed too because we had a 3-year kid too with us.
So we have started our journey from Bangalore at 5 in the morning and we reached Ooty around 2 PM. Then we had our lunch and we went shopping on the first day itself because of the problem with the site seeing is that we often miss the time needed for shopping. After around 2-3 hours wandering in the commercial street of Ooty, we went straight to our hotel and rested the whole day.
Siteseeing Ooty
So the next day we have started our Ooty site seeing and we booked an Auto. The good thing about booking an auto is that you will actually love the fresh breeze of the mountain and also it was convenient. So the auto driver has shared that he will be taking us to 7-8 sightseeing places for full day.
The Tea Factory
There are a lot of tea factories in Ooty and you will get a lot of variety of tea here. The main aim of the tea factory/museum in Ooty is to spread awareness about the tea and how the tea is prepared from the leaves.
These two are the prototypes of machines that will be used while making the tea from leaves.
Then inside the museum, we can read how the tea was originated and how Nilgiris (Ooty) is famous for the tea. Some of the snapshots on of Origins of tea.
Then we were shown the whole tea making process through the diagram.
And then we have been provided with some of the samples of tea to buy. I am not fond of tea, but my parents are, so we have bought a half kg of tea for them.
As it was on the top, we can actually capture some of the nice shots of the Ooty.
Tea Garden
Our next stop was the tea garden where we can actually go and feel the tea leaves as well as get some photoshoots done.
Wax Museum
Our next stop was a wax museum where there was some wax statue made of some famous personalities.
Botanical Garden
Next, we went to the botanical garden which was actually very well maintained and also a big garden. We have also seen a wide variety of flowers, plants out here.
Rose Garden
Our next stop was the rose garden, but as there is winter, there was only a few rose was visible. Nevertheless, the garden was quite big and lovely.
Pine Forest
Our next stop was Pine Forest, which is one of the picturesque locations of the ooty. It is also famous for shooting spots. A lot of Bollywood films has been shooted here like Qayamat se Qayamat tak, Khuda Gawah etc.
9th Mile
Our next stop was the 9th mile, which was again one of the famous shooting spots in Ooty, it is also called Wenlock downs. The name is 9th mile because it is around the 9th mile away from Ooty. this place is also in many movies like Deewana, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Raja Hindustani etc.
That was all from day 1. We have covered almost all the famous places in Ooty on the first day itself. It was a great travel day along as well as tiring. We then went back to our hotel, had our dinner and slept quite early. So we had visited around 7 places on day 1. Will be updating you about our next days in another post.
