Every photo and video took me back to that amazing trip through Huila and its charming capital. It’s a lively city, known for its folklore sanjuanero, the warmth of its people, and its beautiful landscapes that invite you to explore at your own pace.
On this trip, I had the joy of visiting incredible places like the Hand of the Giant, a spot with a breathtaking view that leaves you speechless. A bit farther away is Paicol, home to the impressive La Serpiente waterfall. Its drop is magnificent—tall, powerful, and with deep waters that practically beg you to take a refreshing swim. Nearby is Villa Vieja, a town that serves as the gateway to the majestic Tatacoa Desert, located about 40 minutes away. This tropical dry forest gets its name from a highly venomous rattlesnake that once populated the area in large numbers.
Once in the Tatacoa Desert, the magic is undeniable. The stars there seem closer than ever, filling the sky thanks to the distance from the cities and the lack of light pollution. You can also enjoy delicious craft beers and a gastronomy that instantly wins you over.
It’s truly gratifying to look back and realize we have stories to tell—memories full of joy and moments that made our hearts feel alive. That’s why I invite you to visit this wonderful destination.

Hoy, mientras revisaba el celular, me encontré con esta gran experiencia y no pude evitar sonreír al recordar tan buenos momentos. Cada foto y cada video me devolvieron a ese viaje maravilloso por el Huila y su encantadora capital. Es una ciudad llena de vida, reconocida por su folclore sanjuanero, por la calidez de su gente y por sus paisajes que invitan a explorar sin prisa.
En esta oportunidad tuve la dicha de visitar lugares increíbles, como la Mano del Gigante, un sitio con una vista que simplemente te deja sin palabras. Más adelante, aunque un poco retirado, está Paicol, hogar de la imponente cascada La Serpiente. Su caída es grandiosa, de gran altura y con aguas profundas que te invitan casi que obligatoriamente a darte un buen baño. Muy cerca también se encuentra Villa Vieja, un pueblo que sirve de antesala al majestuoso desierto de la Tatacoa, ubicado a unos 40 minutos. Este bosque seco tropical recibe su nombre por una serpiente de cascabel muy venenosa que antiguamente abundaba en la zona.
Ya en el desierto de la Tatacoa, la magia es total. Allí las estrellas parecen estar más cerca, regalando un cielo completamente despejado gracias a la distancia de las ciudades y la poca contaminación lumínica. Además, se puede disfrutar de cervezas artesanales deliciosas y una gastronomía que enamora a cualquiera.
Es realmente gratificante mirar atrás y saber que tenemos historias que contar, recuerdos llenos de alegría y momentos que nos hicieron vibrar de felicidad. Por eso, los invito a conocer este maravilloso destino.
