Yesterday, I had the pleasure of greeting an old friend. He came from Canada to visit his family and spend the holidays with them. Between chatting and reminiscing, I suggested that he take a day off to meet up, have a few beers, and talk calmly, like in the old days. I told him about eight days in advance, understanding that he had many people to visit and hugs to give... and yet, he made time for us.
That's how we ended up in Provenza, one of the most talked about and visited neighborhoods in Medellín in recent times; it's even considered one of the coolest places in the world. The weather was perfect, the kind that invites you to stay without watching the clock. We also met a mutual friend there; he arrived with his sister, and amid laughter, toasts, and good food, we shared a great night talking about life, what we do today, what we have built, and what we dream of.
Provenza Street was bustling with life: tourists from all over the world enjoying the paisa atmosphere, which can be felt in the music, the easy smiles, and the desire to dance, laugh, and share. I saw people from Australia, India, Brazil, Argentina, Korea, España and, of course, many compatriots exploring Medellín with curiosity and amazement.
We went to a place called La House, located at the end of the first block, which had a very pleasant atmosphere. We decided to spend some time there and then went to the disco to dance a little. I enjoyed it very much, perhaps because it had been a long time since I had been to a place like that and because certain moments come just when you need them.
Provenza is a place to enjoy and to choose how to experience it. As in many parts of the world, different realities coexist there: from partying, exclusivity, and fine dining to situations such as prostitution and drugs. It all depends on each person's intentions and perspective. There are also great restaurants, spaces for doing business, investing, and networking. About a year ago, I even had the opportunity to talk to some Hivers who are based in Medellín.

El día de ayer tuve la alegría de saludar a un viejo amigo. Él vino desde Canadá para visitar a su familia y pasar las fiestas de fin y comienzo de año con ellos. Entre charla y recuerdos le propuse que sacara un día para vernos, tomarnos unas cervezas y conversar con calma, como en los viejos tiempos. Se lo dije con unos ocho días de anticipación, entendiendo que tenía muchas personas por visitar y abrazos por repartir… y aun así, el espacio se dio.
Fue así como nos encontramos en Provenza, uno de los barrios más mencionados y visitados de Medellín en los últimos tiempos; Incluso es considerado uno de los mal cool del mundo. El clima estaba perfecto, de esos que invitan a quedarse sin mirar el reloj. La calle de Provenza estaba llena de vida: turistas de todas partes del mundo disfrutando del ambiente paisa, ese que se siente en la música, en la sonrisa fácil, en las ganas de bailar, reír y compartir. Estuvimos en un lugar llamado La House, ubicado al final de la primera cuadra, con un ambiente muy agradable. Decidimos pasar un rato allí y luego entramos a la discoteca a bailar un poco. Provenza es un lugar para disfrutar y para elegir cómo vivirlo. Todo depende de las intenciones y la mirada de cada quien. También hay grandes restaurantes, espacios para hacer negocios, invertir y conectar; incluso, hace aproximadamente un año tuve la oportunidad de conversar con algunos hivers que están establecidos en Medellín.
