Have you ever been to Tandag? Please do share your stories.
Hi to all my fellow hivers! Now, on my 21st blog, I'm going to tell you about my experiences in a place where we spent a quite some time during the holidays with my family and relatives.
Let me begin by telling you about Tandag City.
Tandag is the serene and peaceful capital of the province of Surigao del Sur on Mindanao Island's northeastern coast, facing the Philippine Sea or the Pacific Ocean. It is one of my favorite places in the country because it is where most of the people I care about live. I really enjoy its tranquility, which is why I look forward to returning there each year.
Tandag City is the capital of Surigao del Sur province in the Philippines. For most people in Tandag, farming and fishing are the principal sources of income because Tandag has a wide land for farming and again it faces the Pacific Ocean for fishing. Tandag is also known as a religious center and the capital city.
THE ADVENTURE
If you plan on visiting Tandag, here are some suggestions for things to do:
TANDAG TUNA REPUBLIK (Tuna Republic)
Since it was already dark when we arrived in the City, Tuna Republik was our first stop adventure to eat our food for dinner. If you're in Tantag City, don't miss out on the tastiest tuna dishes the city has to offer. Tuna fish is used in all of the dishes. You can get grilled fish, sisig fish, and kinilaw or raw fish, among other meals. You can also ask them to prepare your favorite seafoods, such as crabs and shrimp, for you.

TANDAG BOULEVARD (Baywalk)
The boulevard, which stretches along the shores and is well renowned for its stunning seascapes and lengthy stretch of colorful lamp posts, is a picturesque coastal path in Tandag where locals frequently hang out. It's a nice area to stroll or jog early in the morning to get some fresh air from the Pacific Ocean, but the colorful light posts make it even better at night.
The vibrant lighting enhances the atmosphere. There are a variety of vendors selling good Filipino street foods, a numerous barbecue kiosks and a large area for people to enjoy, watch the kids play with a rented three-wheel bike at night.

THE FAMOUS BEACH (Mabua Beach)
Mabua Beach is Tandag's most well-known beach resort. It is easily accessible, which is why many locals visit, particularly during the summer. You will be mesmerized by the relaxing wind blowing softly across your dust-powdered face and the fine black sand. The sea water is clean, encouraging visitors to go for a swim.
Personally, I believe that the greatest time to visit is during the weekdays. However, if you want to see how Filipinos, particularly Tandaganons, celebrate life in the face of adversity, I recommend going on weekends because the karaoke bars are packed. There are numerous beach huts, karaokes, and other attractions.
THE FOREST (Rice fields)
So my family and I went for a walk in the rice fields on a lovely morning. Finally, I was ecstatic to have the opportunity to walk inside and photograph it. The term 'kahumayan' describes a large area covered in rice fields or farms.
My first trip to a tropical location like this was incredible. I recently had the chance to visit one. We went to a forest to unwind and live pleasantly for a day away from the city.
THE FOREST (River)
We also had the opportunity to explore the river, which was an incredible experience for me. Swimming in the cool river water that flows freely is enjoyable along with my family. The cold river water is quite relaxing. When you put your foot in the water, it makes you swim
TRAVEL TIP and ADVICE:
- The food is delicious, and the people are warm and welcoming.
- Just bring plenty of cash because there are only a few banks in the area.
- Tandag has decent accommodations, however we chose to stay with relatives.
