Hello everyone, I was looking at some photos from the holidays of a couple of years ago and apart from a crazy nostalgia because of the covid covid, I wanted to share something with you, starting from Porto Santo, an island that I think almost no one knows, so I'll tell you about it a bit!
The main beach. On a sunny day you have incredibly crystal clear water paired with stunning golden fine sand. It really is like dust rather than granular sand. They also say that the water has therapeutic properties.
It is more than 8 kilometers long, so perfect for a morning walk where you can watch the sunrise. Depending on the days there can be some fairly small waves for body surfing, but the sea is usually quite calm, good for swimming and a refreshing dip after getting a tan on the beach.
Small desert composed entirely of fossils and sand obtained from them.
As the island is exposed to the wind for most of the year, this condition has led to the emergence of windmills for grinding cereals, which are necessary for making bread. Currently, most of the mills are abandoned, although they are recognized as an element of Porto Santo's heritage and culture.
The only cannon to defend the island, positioned at the highest and most strategic point centuries ago.
Section of the volcano from which the island originated.
Organ pipes. These incredible columns of rock were formed by the rapid contact of the explosion of hot magma and frozen ice. We hope to be back to travel soon and see if I find anything else to post!
