That travel deserves a beer
After nearly 48h of travel in various vehicles in 7 countries we reached out destination at the north-east coast of Sri-Lanka. This will be another story, but first follow me to Tutu bar at the beach.
So exhausted đ© need a beer đș
After walking a bit at the beach the Tutu bar was jumping into my eye, as I saw cold beer.
Hey Hive Family
follow me to Nilaveli in Sri Lanka
and let us travel the world again
Lion beer at Tutu bar
This just happened after all the travel.
After that long day I was ready to the golden sands and tranquil waters of Nilaveli, I wandered into Tutut Bar, drawn by its easygoing vibe and the sound of waves just steps away. Dropping my bag, I ordered a Lion Lager and it came In a can with an ice-cold glass to enjoy the refreshing even more.
The bartender slid a frosted glass across the counter, its surface misty from the chill. Cracking open the can, I poured the beer slowly, watching the golden liquid cascade and settle with a light, foamy head. The first sip from the icy glass was instantly refreshing: crisp, smooth, and subtly sweet, with just enough malt and fruit notes to make each mouthful satisfying. The cold glass elevated the experience, keeping the lager perfectly chilled as I relaxed into the evening.
With the sun setting over the Indian Ocean and the last light glinting off my glass, Lion Lager tasted like the perfect end to an adventurous day, a classic Sri Lankan beer, enjoyed the way locals and travelers alike appreciate it best: ice-cold, in good company, with the beach as your backdrop.
Where are we traveling?
Did you ever heard about Nilaveli
Nilaveli is the kind of place that feels like a well kept secret, even as word about its beauty slowly spreads among travelers.
Tucked away on Sri Lankaâs northeast coast, this stretch of powdery white sand and calm, turquoise sea is a world apart from the bustle of the islandâs southern beaches.
Arriving in Nilaveli, you immediately feel the pace of life slow down. Palm trees sway lazily overhead, and small fishing boats bob gently on the horizon. The beach itself is wide and uncrowded, perfect for long, barefoot walks or simply sinking into the shade with a good book. The water is warm and inviting ideal for swimming, snorkeling, diving, whale watching or just floating as the sun climbs the sky.
Days here have a gentle rhythm. Mornings might begin with a sunrise swim or a stroll along the shore, collecting shells and watching local fishermen haul in their catch. By afternoon, the sun is strong and the sea shimmersâperfect for hopping on a boat to Pigeon Island, where vibrant coral reefs and turtles await just offshore.
Evenings in Nilaveli are pure magic. As the sky turns gold and pink, beach bars like Tutu come alive with the soft hum of conversation and the clink of glasses. You might find yourself sipping a Lion Lager, toes in the sand, as the dayâs last light fades behind the palms. Thereâs a sense of contentment here, a feeling that youâve found a slice of paradise thatâs both welcoming and unspoiled.
For any traveler seeking peace, natural beauty, and a taste of authentic Sri Lankan coastal life, Nilaveli, close to Trocomalee, is a destination that lingers in your memory long after the footprints in the sand have washed away. Even, if a journey is exhausting like ours, it is worth the effort.
This place feels a bit like Thailand 20 or 30 years ago or even like the Gili islands in the early 90ties.
Have a great day everybody
and let us travel the world again
