Sitting on a hill while the cool, fresh breeze envelops you is an experience that generates so much wellbeing and tranquility that I feel that words fall short. That's what I feel when I climb a mountain, but visiting the Lomas de Cubiro and having this feeling is something indescribable for me. Greetings, friends of Hive! I hope you are doing very well. In my passage through the state of Lara I could not miss Cubiro, or more specifically the Lomas de Cubiro, so here I tell you about my visit to such an impressive place.
Sentarte en una colina mientras la brisa fresca y fría te arropa es una experiencia que me genera tanto bienestar y tranquilidad que siento que las palabras se quedan cortas. Eso es lo que siento cuando subo una montaña, pero visitar las Lomas de Cubiro y tener esta sensación es algo indescriptible para mí. ¡Saludos, amigos de Hive! Espero que se encuentren muy bien. En mi paso por el estado Lara no podía dejar de ir a Cubiro, o más concretamente a las Lomas de Cubiro, así que aquí les cuento de mi visita a tan impresionante lugar.
The day started with my friends and I on the road to Quíbor, because from there we went deeper and deeper to get to Las Lomas. From our distance (Cabudare), the ride takes a couple of hours, where we cross the road to the airport until we finally leave the city. What lets you know that you are close to Las Lomas is not all the sharp curves you pass through, or the view of the nature you can see before your eyes; no, what lets you know that you are there in an unmistakable way is the change of climate, the transition from heat to a cold so enjoyable that it resembles the cold of a refrigerator.
El día empezó con mis amigos y yo en vía para Quíbor, porque desde allí nos adentramos más y más para llegar a las Lomas. Desde nuestra distancia (Cabudare), el recorrido dura un par de horas, donde atravesamos la vía hacia el aeropuerto hasta finalmente salir de la ciudad. Lo que te avisa que estás cerca de las Lomas no son todas las curvas cerradas por las que pasas, o la vista hacia la naturaleza que se deja ver ante tus ojos; no, lo que te hace saber que estás allí de manera inconfundible es el cambio de clima, la transición del calor a un frío tan disfrutable que se asemeja al frío de una nevera.
After so much driving, my friends and I arrived at the entrance, where you have to climb a small hill to have the best views of the place. For what the Lomas de Cubiro offers, I would say that it is an ideal place for families, because I saw many that gather for picnics, children run and parents can relax a little because it is an open and safe space for that, and others ride horses or take pictures with them. That is another attraction of Las Lomas, there you can take a horseback ride along a path that is designed for that, and if that is not what you want their caretakers are very friendly and allow you to pet them or take pictures with them.
Después de tanto manejar, mis amigos y yo llegamos a la entrada, donde se debe subir una pequeña loma para luego tener las mejores vistas del lugar. Por lo que ofrecen las Lomas de Cubiro, diría que es un lugar ideal para familias, pues vi a muchas que se reúnen para hacer picnics, los niños corren y los padres pueden relajarse un poco porque es un espacio abierto y seguro para eso, y otros pasean a caballo o se toman fotos con ellos. Esa es otra atracción de las Lomas, allí puedes dar un recorrido a caballo por un camino que está diseñado para eso, y si no es lo que quieres sus cuidadores son muy amables y te permiten acariciarlos o tomarte fotos con ellos.
Besides families, I also saw many couples in love or girls having a photo shoot (which is a challenge, because there is so much breeze that your hair hardly stays still). It's family friendly and open to the public, where people can spend a few quiet hours or exhaust their energy running and rolling down the hills. For me it was fun how the kids and adults manage to do this. Many people use cardboard, plastic bottles or sheets that they place under their bodies in order to slide down the hills. The laughs here are endless.
Además de familias, también vi a muchas parejas de enamorados o a chicas teniendo una sesión de fotos (lo cual es un reto, porque hay tanta brisa que tu cabello difícilmente se queda quieto). Es un sitio familiar y abierto a todo el público, donde las personas pueden pasar unas horas tranquilas o agotar sus energías corriendo y rodando por las colinas. Para mí fue divertida la forma en la que los niños y adultos se las ingenian para hacer esto. Muchas personas usas cartón, botellas de plástico o sábanas que colocan debajo de sus cuerpos para poder deslizarse por las colinas. Las risas aquí son interminables.
The wonderful views of everything green in Cubiro, and the sky that seems to be so close to you, is one of the things that has remained fixed in my memory the most. To say I felt like I was in a movie is an understatement, I think I felt more like I was in a painting that someone with great artistic gifts made, and then threw me there. It is so beautiful and peaceful that it was amazing to me that it is a place you can visit.
Las maravillosas vistas a todo lo verde que hay en Cubiro, y al cielo que parece estar tan cerca de ti, es de las cosas que más ha quedado fija en mi memoria. Decir que me sentía como en una película es decir poco, creo que me sentía más bien como en una pintura que alguien con grandes dotes artísticos hizo, y luego me arrojó allí. Es tan precioso y tranquilo que se me hizo increíble el hecho de que es un lugar que puedes visitar.
Las Lomas is in the middle of a small town that you can also visit, although I didn't get far enough to show it here. However, near the entrance there are stalls where you can eat, see the Cubiro handicrafts and buy them, or buy toys for the children and of course, you can eat strawberries with cream, which is a sweet that is a must in Venezuela when it comes to visiting very cold places.
Las Lomas están en medio de un pueblito que también puedes visitar, aunque no llegué tan lejos para mostrarlo aquí. Sin embargo, cerca de la entrada hay puestos donde puedes comer, ver la artesanía de Cubiro y comprarla, o también comprar juguetes para los niños y por supuesto, puedes comer las fresas con crema, que es un dulce que es infaltable en Venezuela cuando se trata de visitar a lugares muy fríos.
