I'd be lying if I didn't tell you that I was somewhat worried about bears while hiking through the Nature Reserve, with all my senses focused on the surroundings.
In Romania brown bears are the largest in size in Europe —second only to Alaskan 'grizzly' bears—, and only in 2022 alone, nine tourists lost their lives due to encounters with bears.
Fortunately in my case, it was just a very noisy squirrel climbing down a tree.
