Legend has it that before the arrival of the Spaniards the heir to the throne of the Inca Empire was affected by a serious and strange paralysis, so he was recommended to go from Cuzco to the slopes of the Inca Bridge to heal. According to legend, so that the heir could cross, the Inca warriors embraced each other and formed a human bridge through which the Inca passed with his son in his arms to the hot springs, where he found the sought after cure. When he turned his gaze back to thank his warriors, they had petrified, creating the bridge.
Relata la leyenda que antes de la llegada de los españoles el heredero al trono del Imperio incaico estaba afectado de una grave y extraña parálisis, por lo que se le recomendó dirigirse desde Cuzco hasta las vertientes del Puente del Inca para curarse. Según la leyenda, para que el heredero pudiera cruzar, los guerreros incas se abrazaron unos a otros y formaron un puente humano por el que pasó el inca con su hijo en brazos hasta la terma, en donde encontró la buscada cura. Cuando volvió atrás su mirada para agradecerles a sus guerreros, estos se habían petrificado, creando el puente.

Very good day to the whole community, today we travel to the "Puente del Inca", declared "World Heritage Site" by Unesco.
It is located in the province of Mendoza, Argentina 193 km from the capital of the province, on the Andes Mountains and at 2730 meters above sea level.
Muy buen día a toda la comunidad, hoy viajamos hasta el “Puente del Inca”, declarado “Patrimonio de la Humanidad” por la Unesco.
Se encuentra en la provincia de Mendoza, Argentina a 193 km de la capital de la provincia, sobre la Cordillera de Los Andes y a 2730 msnm.
With great geological and landscape appeal, it consists of a natural bridge, the remains of a hotel, a chapel and hydrothermal springs that give the Cuevas River a particular color. This area was formerly part of the "Inca Route".
Con gran atractivo geológico y paisajístico, se compone de un puente natural, los restos de un hotel, una capilla y fuentes hidrotermales que le dan al río Cuevas un colorido particular. Esta zona antiguamente formaba parte de la “Ruta del Inca”.
The history of the hotel is from the early twentieth century where the hotel, a church and a set of pools are built to exploit the hot springs, but in 1965 an avalanche generates great damage and the place is abandoned. For many years access to the bridge and the pools was not restricted because they were not affected by the avalanche, so anyone could use the facilities, but in 1991 it was declared "Intangible Zone" and now access is restricted to preserve its conservation.
La historia del hotel es de principios del sigo XX donde se construye el hotel, una iglesia y un conjunto de piletones para explotar las aguas termales, pero en 1965 un alud genera grandes daños y el lugar es abandonado. Durante muchos años el acceso al puente y a los piletones no estuvo restringido porque no fueron afectados por el alud, entonces cualquiera podía usar las instalaciones, pero en 1991 se lo declaró “Zona Intangible” y ahora el acceso está restringido para preservar su conservación.
Upon entering we find a small fair with local items and all the objects you can think of petrified: bottles, slippers, ceramics, fabrics ... Everything! A craftsman explained that only some of them are authorized to go down to the bridge, there they place the elements on shelves and leave them for 15 to 30 days, depending on the material. The water that falls from the bridge with all the sediments causes them to petrify with that ochre color characteristic of the place.
Al acceder encontramos una pequeña feria con artículos locales y todos los objetos que se les ocurran petrificados: ¡botellas, zapatillas, cerámicas, telas… de todo! Un artesano nos explicó que solo algunos de ellos están autorizados a bajar al puente, ahí colocan los elementos sobre unas estanterías y los dejan por 15 a 30 días, dependiendo del material. El agua que va cayendo del puente con todos los sedimentos hace que se petrifiquen con ese color ocre característico del lugar.
