Typical Vermont winter scene.
I woke up to several inches of new snow, clinging to just about everything out my window. I live in Stowe, Vermont, and this has been a winter to remember. My car was covered, the trees were all white, and the army of snowplows had not yet cleared the parking area or road. I made sure to grab my camera to capture this quaint mountain town at its most beautiful, under a blanket of snow.
My first stop was downtown, which was already bustling. A lot of people are in town to go skiing, although I saw a long line of cars waiting to drop their kids off at the local elementary school as well. The tall white Community Stowe Church towered about this historic town. As I drove out of the downtown area, I quickly got into farmland. This is all corn farms during the summer and fall, but provide an area for snowmobiling during the winter. The bright red barns stood out in stark contrast to the black and white landscape.
Stowe is a great town to come visit during any season, but I am partial to the beauty of winter, especially after a good blanketing of snow. If you never make it here, at least you can travel virtually with me today.
After a nighttime snow, I awoke to beautiful views everywhere this morning here in the Vermont mountains.
The small army of snowplows had already gotten to this road, but the view was stunning nontheless.
This red barn was part of the old Percy Farm, which the Stowe Land Trust has protected and kept. Snowmobile tracks head out across the white fields beyond.
I bet there are a lot of people enjoying the fresh powder up at Stowe mountain today. I would be, except I hurt my leg crashing into a tree a few days ago.
Walking through the winter wonderland to do some laundry.
I had to stop as I drove through downtown Stowe to capture the snowy winter essence of this quaint mountain NE town.
I enjoyed the splash of red that this barn provided in the otherwise black and white landscape.
The is how the day started. I peeked out my window to see my car covered in snow, along with everything else. The sunrise was lighting up the clouds over the mountains, heralding a bright new day.
A clear bluebird winter day here in Stowe.
I took the long way home in order to see more of the snow covered backroads.
I'll be the first footsteps here today.
Downtown Stowe is bustling with people headed into work, dropping kids off at school, and driving north towards the mountain resort.
This is where I got for laundry, a gym, a hot tub, and a pool.
Keep traveling and keep posting,
