I don't know how many of you had the opportunity to visit Cote d'Azur, and has anyone stayed in Antibes, but in my opinion, this place between Cannes and Nice is one of the most beautiful I've seen.
Maybe someone will say that I'm wrong and that I'm "crazy", but when I later found out during the research of this place that some other fantastic creative "crazy people" stayed there, I accept that they declare me the same.
In the middle of the 19th century, the most famous writer of futuristic novels, Jules Verne, lived in Antibes, as well as one of the most famous painters in the world, in the middle of the 20th century, Pablo Picasso.
Jules Verne lived in a rented villa on Cap d'Antibes, as well as on a moored yacht, while creating some of his most famous works, and Pablo Picasso was hosted in the old Garibaldi castle on the seafront in 1946.
I didn't get to the villa where Jules Verne lived, but I did get to the castle that was home to the famous painter for a year.
In that year, Picasso painted a lot of works, which he decided to donate as a gift to the owners of the Garibaldi castle, so that the castle would be turned into a museum... Which it still is today.
We arrived in Antibes by train, from Cannes.
From the train station, we headed towards the marina and the old town.
Marina Antibes is very luxurious, however, not like Marina Monte Carlo. There are a lot of interesting yachts there, and their owners drive interesting cars...
The entrance to the fortified city is through high walls, through well-kept gates
The streets of the city are stony and narrow, the ocher color of the walls prevails, which, along with the bright blue sky, makes walking very pleasant.
Visiting the old part of Antibes, we come across a spacious square where antiques are sold.
Books, decorations, weapons...
A lot of interesting items, for which we don't have time to look in detail now.
We don't even have time to sit on the plateau and drink coffee or to have lunch in one of the restaurants we visit (if we wanted to, we would have chosen this one, in a small square with a tall pillar and a fountain).
From the narrow stone streets, some invisible force pulls us towards the seashore.
We pass through a narrow passage and stone steps into another smaller fortified area. We hear some roaring from the left side and we go to that side. We emerge at Garibaldi Castle, which today houses a museum with a display of Picasso's works.
Not wanting to linger in the museum, but wanting to listen and watch the waves on the seashore, we set off in the direction of the blue horizon.
My people, what a beauty.
The steep ramparts of the fortified city rise over 10m above sea level, and the waves that hit the wall inexorably disperse into thousands of small droplets, which bring us refreshment and the smell of salt water.
I think I could spend days here, listening to the sound of the crashing waves and dozing on these ramparts.
However, after continuing along the coast, walking along the ramparts, where there are some interesting houses and apartments, we reach a small garden where some music is heard.
Well, it was a part of Antibes and the scene that bought me, that I can claim that Antibes is the best.
A small garden, the Poet's Garden, in which there are palm trees, various decorative flowers, cacti, as well as boards with sayings of some of Antibes, one of them is Jules Verne.
On one of the plaques there is a quote written by him, which best describes Antibes.
"Blue everywhere, up, down, and greenery galore."
Another writer, the famous Victor Hugo, lived in Antibes, to whom a monument was erected in that garden, which reads:
"Everything here shines, everything blooms, everything sings. The sun, woman, love - they are at home here. I still feel that glow in my eyes and in my soul..."
And the writer Jacques Audiberti was born in Atibi.
He described his native Antibes in the following words:
"Here, then, is that capital with its wings, and its flower, and that white fever tulle hanging, before the Sun..."
And what would a poet's garden be without a little music.
When I heard the chords of the guitar, I headed for the place where I had the best view and where I could hear the sounds the guitar was making.
And for you (and for me too, to enjoy the beautiful sounds and color of the sky again), I made a video.
I would say - magical sounds with a beautiful view.
