Today, by the grace of Mahadev, I got the privilege of visiting Badi Patnadevi, Shaktipeeth and also visited the mother situated on the fort and participated in the complete aarti at both the places.
Badi Patnadevi Temple can be reached from Meena Bazaar, Gulzarbagh or from Bhadraghat which is located at a distance of about 10km from Patna Junction.
It is widely believed that the city of Patna is named after the Badi Patan Devi Temple. However, some people doubt whether Patna is named after this temple. According to them, the name is derived from Patan, which means a city and Patna was a major place of export and import.
According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that the right thigh of Goddess Sati fell in Magadha and it is said that part of Sati's body fell in both Maharajganj and Chowk areas of the old Patna city. Badi Patan Devi Temple and Choti Patan Devi Temple were constructed at these places. According to Tantra Charumani, the small idols in the Badi Patan Devi Temple, Patna are of Goddess Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati. In Hindu mythology, these deities protected Putraka, the founder of Pataliputra. A strange stone idol has been found in a pond near the Badi Patan Devi Temple, Patna. That idol is kept in the eastern verandah of the main temple where this stone is worshipped regularly. Whenever you come to Patna, do visit the Mata.

आज महादेव की कृपा से बड़ी पटनदेवी, शक्तिपीठ के दर्शन का सौभाग्य मिला साथ ही गढ़ पर स्थित माता का भी दर्शन किए दोनो स्थान पर संपूर्ण आरती में सम्मिलित हुए l
बड़ी पटनदेवी मंदिर मीना बाजार, गुलजारबाग के तरफ से या भद्रघाट के तरफ से आ सकते हैं जो कि पटना जंक्शन से लगभग 10km की दूरी पर स्थित है l
व्यापक रूप से माना जाता है कि पटना शहर का नाम बड़ी पटन देवी मंदिर के नाम पर पड़ा है। हालाँकि, कुछ लोगों को संदेह है कि क्या पटना का नाम इसी मंदिर से लिया गया है। उनके अनुसार, यह नाम पाटन से लिया गया है, जिसका अर्थ है एक शहर और पटना निर्यात और आयात का एक बड़ा स्थान था।
हिंदू पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार , ऐसा माना जाता है कि देवी सती की दाहिनी जांघ मगध में गिरी थी और कहा जाता है कि सती के शरीर का हिस्सा पुराने पटना शहर के महाराजगंज और चौक दोनों क्षेत्रों में गिरा था। इन स्थानों पर बड़ी पटन देवी मंदिर और छोटी पटन देवी मंदिर का निर्माण कराया गया। तंत्र चारुमनी के अनुसार, बड़ी पटन देवी मंदिर, पटना की छोटी मूर्तियाँ देवी महाकाली , महालक्ष्मी और महासरस्वती की हैं । हिंदू पौराणिक कथाओं में , इन देवी-देवताओं ने पुत्रक की रक्षा की, जो पाटलिपुत्र के संस्थापक थे । पटना के बड़ी पटन देवी मंदिर के पास एक तालाब में एक अजीब पत्थर की मूर्ति मिली है। उस प्रतिमा को मुख्य मंदिर के पूर्वी बरामदे में रखा गया है जहां इस पत्थर की नियमित पूजा की जाती है l आप जब भी पटना आए माता के दर्शन अवश्य करें l
