Mangrove Destination, Nipah Village, North Sumatera
The beach has always been the choice of many people for a vacation because it is considered a fairly comfortable place. The gusts of wind, the chasing waves, the splashes of water hitting the corals, as well as the white sand which is quite sloping make the beach the most choice as a place to visit when on vacation.
In North Sumatra, there are many beaches that can be visited. The number is not small. Cities such as Batubara, Tanjung Balai, Deli Serdang which are indeed located on the coast make it have many beaches that can be visited with friends and family.
Of the several beaches in North Sumatra that I visited, the most memorable was Mangrove Beach, which is located in Sei Nagalawan Village, Perbaungan, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra. Why is it effective? Because I went there with my family. That was before I went to Japan, we went on a trip to Mangrove Beach.
Okay, let's continue on our journey at this Kampung Nipah Mangrove Beach. This is a different Beach than before. When my family and I visited, this beach was still in the process of being perfected.
Mangrove Beach in Kampung Nipah
Mangrove Beach is a beach with mangrove forests. It is called the Kampung Nipah Mangrove Beach because the location before it was used as a tourist spot there were many Nipah trees (a type of palm plant) in the middle of the mangrove forest.
To get to Mangrove Beach it takes 2 hours from Medan, while from where I live it takes 3-4 trips. There used to be no toll road so it took us 4 hours to get there.
Mangrove Beach is located inland and somewhat remote. To reach the beach, we had to transit and needed a getek to cross the river. Getek is a means of transportation commonly used in rivers, in the form of assemblies of bamboo made in such a way that it can be used as a means of crossing. Not only people, getek can also accommodate motorcycles.
As you can see, to get to the Mangrove Beach we not only go through the river but also through a long bamboo bridge like the photo above. This can be called our family tour for the first time. To this day, until I came back from Japan we also haven't been able to travel together again because we are busy.
When we climbed the long bamboo bridge, on the left and right there were mangroves and mangroves cultivated by local residents. From what I've read, from this cultivation, the Kampung Nipah Mangrove Beach has won several National and International awards.
Passing through mangrove forests and mangrove forests, we arrived at the beach. There are dozens of gazebos along the beach which are provided for visitors to rest. The gazebos were made of bamboo and thatch as the roof. Being in the gazebo is very cool and comfortable. But why do we go to the beach if we just stay in the gazebo? So we explored along the beach in the midst of visitors who came one by one and made Mangroe Beach crowded.
What is unfortunate about this Mangrove Beach is that the water is not clear. The water is so cloudy that it's not pretty. Even so, it did not dampen the enthusiasm of visitors to swim there.
Looking For Kepah

At that time the water was receding so we could see the distance of the beach and sea water that was far away. Even in the low tide we could look for mussels or shells. He said this was an activity carried out by local residents, looking for mussels. So we started to go down to look for the collar together, but we forgot what the collar we got was for. I don't think we brought it home, nor did we make it a dish on the beach.
Currently, Kampung Nipah Mangrove Beach has been developed again into a more beautiful beach to visit. Mangroves and mangroves that surround it are also continuously cultivated. Even this beach is also often used as educational tours from certain schools and campuses.
And for your information, Mangrove Beach is also called a romantic beach these days. So don't be surprised if many couples choose to vacation at this Kampung Nipah Mangrove Beach.
So it was our short family trip to Mangrove Beach for the first time. This holiday was so much fun.
