Probably one of the most famous and visited mountain peak in Cebu Island that nestled at 587 meters above sea level is Mt. Naupa. It is also one of the most recommended mountains to climb for beginners due to its easy and short trails.
I considered Naupa as my go to when I needed a short camping trip since it is close to home and budget friendly. Aside for it being accessible, its peak also offers a great view specially in the morning as you watch the sun rises and, in the afternoon, while the sun is about to set.
On one lazy afternoon, I decided to take my wife and some friends for a short hike to Mt. Naupa hoping we could get a glimpse of the sun setting down. As we try to ascend towards the peak we were greeted by a heavy downpour and found ourselves wet and cold under a small bamboo hut.
After the rain, we then climb towards the peak to see if we can still catch the sunset, but the place was all covered with fog. I did not realize how pretty it was until I turn 360 degrees all see’s all white in the background.
I took out my phone from my pocket and took a photo and turns out it was equally beautiful. So, I started snapping and took photos as much as I can and requested my friend to take a picture of me and my wife as well.
The fog happens for a reason. I always wanted to see Mt. Naupa in a different perspective and not just sunrise and sunset then there it was. I was so happy taking photos around the mountain with all the fog in the background and it makes me feel so satisfied and thankful that we have made that trip.
After a couple of more pictures and fun, we then start to descent from the peak as the day begins to dark. Since it was after the rain, the trail becomes a bit challenging due to mud and slippery slopes. I then advice the group to position each step slowly and carefully as we move downhill.
This was our Mt. Naupa with fog experience. Ikaw? Anong kwentong Naupa mo?
