We had a walk around Linacre Reservoir today. There are actually three reservoirs, but you can just walk around one if you fancy a shorter walk. The reservoirs became defunct in 1995, so the area is more of a nature reserve.
Around the reservoirs, there are well marked footpaths, mostly dry at the moment. Walking through the wood, there's all kinds of different trees including beech, oak and conifer.
You can also do a bit of bird watching as there are feed stations dotted around the wooded area, but today we concentrated on a walk. There were a few other people out walking with their pooches. You do have to put your dogs on the lead during some of the walk.
We made our way over the wooden walkway. You can leave bird seed, or nuts for the squirrels on the wooden posts. We spotted a squirrel collecting material for a bit of nest building.
It had great views over the reservoir. We could just see what we thought was a pump or valve house in the distance.
It looked like someone had changed their shoes after finishing their walk and unfortunately, left their trainers on the wall. Oops!
As well as walking, you can also cycle or do a spot of geocaching. It's a good way of getting the children outdoors. There's plenty of seats to have a break or a picnic. Even though it was sunny today, there was still a chill in the air, so too cold to be sat around. An easy, enjoyable walk and a place to return to, as lots more to explore.
