We had a walk starting just above the Trent Lock on the Erewash Canal where rivers and canals meet. It is known locally as where the 'waters meet'. It just looked like a picture on a jigsaw box!

It is the first lock on the Erewash Canal, so there's quite a few boats to see. It's a popular place for a stroll or a cycle ride down the towpath.

I stumbled across this boat on Facebook. The couple who own it now live in it permanently.

I loved this colourful shed which appeared to have a hammock to the side of it. A good life ...

We had to navigate past the swan family. The swans had seven cygnets. A lot of cygnets in the early stages succumb to infections or predators.

I'm pleased that they've all survived and are looking really healthy.

Safely back in the canal ...

A golden orfe which might have come from someone’s garden pond when the canal has flooded or could have just been dumped there. I've kept fish myself in my younger days that I've adopted from other people. I quickly realised the bigger the tank you buy, the bigger the fish will grow. This one will do very well, though, as it's in its natural environment.

'Lucky Robin' that accepts your loose change and then donates it to charity. It really was an enjoyable couple of hours. Canals always seem to have a really good vibe to them.
