We drove round the edge of the Ladybower Reservoir in the Upper Derwent Valley in Derbyshire and headed for the car park, before taking in the lovely view of the Derwent Valley Aqueduct from the seat.
With temperatures a record 40°c in the summer, a lot of reservoirs still haven't filled up after the drought. Even though we've had rain it still hasn't been enough.
We couldn't find a way across the water so we had to walk up the banking and across. It was a bit slippy as we attempted to get to the aqueduct in one piece.
We found the remains of an old mini on the bed of the reservoir. How it got there still remains a mystery.
After a few slippy moments, we managed to get to the aqueduct so we could take a few more photos.
There has been rumour circulating that they are deliberately draining the water in preparation to make the reservoir deeper. It makes sense, but nothing official has come out as yet.
It was only last week that the local mountain rescue team had to rescue a walker who found themselves stuck in the mud. Once you sink in it, it is difficult to extract yourself. Thankfully, we made our way back to the car park safely.
