On our second day of staying at Clumber Park in a lovely cottage, we had a good walk this morning starting at the chapel of St Mary The Virgin. We found another Shaun the Sheep that was part of the art trail with the lovely Victorian Gothic Chapel in the background. There were 12 sheep statues in total to find. Shaun the Sheep is a british spin-off from the Wallace and Gromit franchise. They do bring a smile to your face.
We crossed over the bridge, which is from the 18th century, and is Grade II listed. In 2018, it was deliberately driven into by someone driving a stolen car and was badly damaged. The car was abandoned and burnt out nearby. The repairs to the bridge have cost hundreds of thousands of pounds to have it restored.
Our walk was about 3 to 4 miles around the lake. It was flat and quite easy on proper footpaths. There was a cycle hire hut if we didn't fancy walking.
We walked along the edge of the lake and through the wood. It was a nice surprise seeing the wooden reindeer statues. I might try making some myself but a little bit smaller.
The team on the estate had made a bug hotel for somewhere for the creepy crawlies to bed down for the winter. It looked bigger than my flat!
It's definitely getting very Christmassy at Clumber Park. Even the trees had fairy lights on. Apparently, Father Christmas is arriving here from Saturday, 25 November. There is also a Christmas weekly walk for dogs and their owners. They are inviting the dogs to get dressed up in fancy dress for the occasion, with the winner getting a prize.
We finished our walk by crossing over the wooden footbridge and over the weir and then heading back to the warmth of the cottage.
