On my last day in Bournemouth, we went to the beautiful New Forest National Park in Hampshire. There were some lovely thatched cottages nearby.
At the New Forest there are woodlands, heathland and river valleys.
As it was quite hot, we sat under a tree to shade from the sun. You will usually see lots of deer, ponies, horses, and cattle roaming free, although today, we only saw ponies in the distance. Even though they are allowed to roam free they are owned by the New Forest Commoners, who are allowed to graze their animals here. It is a long standing tradition and keeps the grass down!
Buddy had his 'cooling vest' on that keeps dogs cool in the heat. It really works, but I think he preferred to cool down in the nearby stream.
Sometimes he's in a world of his own.
As it was so hot, these ponies were under the shade of the tree at the side of the road. It says 'private parking', so I hope they don't get ticketed!
On the way out, the horses and ponies had taken over the car park. They have acres of land to roam about on, but for some reason, they preferred the car park!
It was a lovely place to just sit and chill and admire the scenery.
