We decided to go away for a few days and stay on the grounds of Clumber Park, which is a National Trust property in Nottinghamshire, UK. There's obviously holiday accommodation there, so we booked the Kitchen Garden Cottage, which was built around 1892 and is attached to a walled garden. It was the old gardener's cottage originally.
Just outside the front door, you can explore the woodland and wildlife having full access to the estate and the walled kitchen garden when the park is closed for visitors at night. You actually have the place to yourself, so it is very peaceful.
There were also the first signs of Christmas with a lovely tree in the courtyard.
The Grade II listed Conservatory and Palm House were having some restoration work done, so it was off limits to visitors. However, we could still access the west wing.
While we were walking around, we stumbled across an art trail called 'Shaun the Sheep: Find the Flock at Clumber Park'.
We walked around trying to find the sheep statues which wasn't too difficult with the size of them. Well ewe you have to join in don't you?!
We also did a little Christmas shopping while we were out. Hopefully, tomorrow, we will have a longer walk around the estate. It was a lovely first day.
