In the west of my Cuban homeland is Pinar del Río. A city with picturesque streets, vibrant daily life and impressive architecture.
Every dawn, as I look out from my balcony, the sun kisses my eyes and invites me to walk its streets full of life and colors. The warm breeze envelops me like an embrace, promising that each day will be an adventure, an encounter with the essence of this city of mine.
My footsteps echo through the streets, as if setting music to the dance of time and history. The facades of the houses whisper secrets of a past full of sacrifices, changes and struggle. The eclecticism of the architecture makes me travel through time, from the colonial mansions with their wrought iron balconies to the most modern buildings that rise proudly towards the sky. The Cathedral of San Rosendo is one of the oldest buildings in the city, and its neoclassical style makes it an iconic landmark.
The parks and squares, souls of the city, are the meeting of generations, where children's laughter, the murmur of the elderly and the kiss of lovers mingle.
In every corner of Pinar del Río, daily life is a constantly changing canvas. Street vendors offer their wares, singing melodies that mingle with the aroma of freshly ground coffee and the smoke of cigars escaping through factory doors. Art and creativity flourish in the hands of local artists, who capture in their works the essence of our land and its people.
My afternoons in Pinar del Río are marked by meeting friends in a café. At nightfall, the city becomes quiet, although it is true that the bars and nightspots come alive.
