In this case, today is the first year of my first time in El Camino de Santiago.
First time because I hope to be able to repeat at some point that special feeling that is completing the journey.
On other occasions I have explained the stages, the landscapes, the reflections. Everything or almost everything I let myself live that experience. In case you are interested in knowing more, I will leave the links published at that time.

The reasons for doing so are very personal. They range from the religious to the spiritual, sports or even touristic. What I am sure of is that whatever the reason is that you are doing it, the journey will change your perspective on life. On the route I met people of other religions who were doing it for reflection, I saw people with physical difficulties who had been on the road for months, young people, older people, some walking, others on bicycles and even on horseback.
The road is well marked and we had to go through stone paths, sometimes made of leaves, crossing mountains, crossing roads.
It is very changeable and each space leaves something, leaves answers to your doubts, leaves learning and strengthens body and spirit.
It is said that the first route is the French road that has a total of 800Km of travel, there are people who do it in several stages and accumulate those kilometers for years until it is finished.
Later, other routes have been opened and we can find them.
French Camino de Santiago
Portuguese Camino de Santiago
Portuguese Camino de Santiago along the coast
Northern Santiago Trail
Camino de Santiago in Finisterre
So we chose the French Way of Saint James. It is accepted to obtain the Compostela at least to cover the last 100 km
That was the option my group and I agreed to complete due to time constraints.
We planned the trip, the resting places and the overnight stays. I think that next time I would prefer not to be so strict and stop at the place I find on the route when I need to.
On the way I had to face my limitations, I learned to listen to my body, to have patience, to think that I could always give a little more. To share with other pilgrims. I also felt that I could communicate with nature, to feel it, to listen to the wind, to the sound of the trees, to the silence.
After completing one stage, the physical tiredness was such that I found it impossible to start the next day, but when I woke up, I felt full of energy, good spirits and ready to give my all that day.
Another thing I learned was to ignore the physical pain, it is normal to get blisters on your feet after walking more than 20 km in a day that the roads are rough because this journey could take more than eight hours. I had two options, to sit on a rock and lament or to think about something else and continue. If it is possible, now I know that I am capable of achieving what I set out to do.
I learned that you can live with very little, that you have to celebrate achievements and enjoy the moments. I discovered that everything happens for a reason and it was very beneficial for me to live this experience before the pandemic.
Now, even though it is difficult, I can better control my anxiety and calm to wait for the right moment to resume our lives.
If any of you have had the desire to do the Camino de Santiago should not abandon that desire. I came to think that I should have done it 20 years earlier but no, I did it when I really should have. When I understood it and got to know the way, I felt part of it. Now I make analogies from that experience to any setback and find answers.
To arrive at the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela after 120Km of road in five days was a challenge but also an indescribable emotion. Moments that I will never forget.
