When you feel like you want to freshen your mind, you think of somewhere to unwind for some time and it’s the best thing you can do. Whether, you are stressed, exhausted, or just want to walk either in a mountain, in the forest, a trail, or just simply under a tree with benches. For me, I choose the spot wherein the crowd are just few and there’s space for alone time where I can freely move and take a selfie.
So, for today’s blog, I visited Orchidarium which is part of Burnham Park in Baguio City. There is still part of it that I did not visit yet, even I visited Burnham Park many times. Like the Orchidarium, I never step on it and it’s my first time to spend a moment there. It was three o’clock in the afternoon when I went there, as usual I take a ride in a jeepney then get off at the town. Because of excitement, I’m imagined if it’s surrounded with lots of orchids, vast surroundings, and varieties of plants.
When I was at the entrance of it, I asked an older woman if it’s okay to enter because I’m not certain if t’s free to enter. She hastily replied that I’m allowed to enter as it’s one of the public viewings, and you can stroll around the area.
As I ran towards the entrance, I think that there’s nothing too see better but I was wrong because along the way, unveiling so much beauty when you roam around at the orchidarium. And I thought there’s only one entrance for it but it there’s another one in the latter part.
So, at the entrance, I was welcomed with three cats and these potted pine trees with different flowers. This is what I’m talking about, I thought it’s all about this only, however, when I continued my walk, I’m, really fascinated with what I saw - beautiful BONSAI of different trees. Well, if you would ask, I really don’t know what are the name of these trees that are actually made in miniature form.
It's really refreshing in the area, and you can feel the ambiance like you are in a forest because you’ll find tropical plants while enjoying the scenery. When I got in the greenhouses, I was even more impressed of the view because of diverse collections of plants and what catches my attention was the orchids that blossom beautifully. I asked the vendor if how much it was, but I’m surprised of the price. There were also some medicinal plants included but mostly they sell plants, like flowering plants, ornamental plants, succulents, those bonsai, and they sell flowerpots, soil, pebbles for decoration, and compost.
When I went to the next greenhouse, this plant made me curious of the name,so I ask the vendor what was all it because It’s my first time to see such. She said that it was a Fox Tail Plant. Well, it’s really like a fox tail.
I thought my journey would end at the last greenhouse but when look around, I can’t believe that there’s more greenhouses, and a café. Here, also, there’s space for parking where they pass at the main entrance.
In this part, there’s an area where you can see a lot of bonsai, and for sure, those who have budget, they would buy. And in the greenhouses, a lot of orchid species were displayed.
There’s also a path which you can walk around the orchidarium for you to view plants, and seating are available if you want to rest. If you are here, bring water, be at your comfortable shoes, and expect that the weather may change especially in the afternoon.
So, this orchidarium feast my eyes with greenery while feeling a bit cool temperature. In addition, it’s really ideal for relaxation and providing quiet garden atmosphere which you can really take instagramable photos. Likewise, you’ll enjoy every part of it.
