Last week I was so happy because I was in Vietnam. This week I am sad & missing the endless walks on its streets. We (fam & frens) took the flight from New Delhi, India Airport to Da Nang, Vietnam Airport. Exchanged some VND (Vietnamese Dong) for the cab & became overnight millionaires. 😎 Thanks to their inflated currency, we could feel that rich.
VND is dirt cheap compared to USD. You can get 1 million VND for just $42-43. Our first stop was Da Nang which literally means "opening of a large river" which is also a reference to its position at the Han River estuary. It was raining everyday and the wind was chilly. Not so perfect if you want to hit the beach while suffering from a cold and cough.
We spent Day 1 walking around the Han River, clicking pictures, and eating yummy food. 👊 Did some shopping in the Han Market. It was so crowded and stuffed with people from different parts of the world.
Yes, we had Italian in Vietnam. 😂 Because most of us were vegetarians and we could eat 90% of the dishes Vietnamese make. But we did try some local vegetarian street food later in the trip.
Day 2, we visited Ba Na Hills. After a 45-minute drive, we reached the fantasy theme park known as Sunworld. It is a popular destination for its stunning scenery, fun attractions, and unique cultural experiences. But the weather on that day was rainy. We all were underprepared for it. We didn't have proper clothes, raincoats or umbrellas. We ended up spending all of our time in a cafe sipping coffee and hot cocktails to warm us up. 😂
One of our frens was kind enough to let the hotel know about our anniversary. After having a bad day, we got a nice surprise. As soon as we took the picture, my kid disfigured the kissing swans because he wanted to sleep. 😶
Next day we visited Hoi An, which is a beautiful and historic city located in central Vietnam, and it is famous for its stunning old town, colorful lanterns (they were everywhere), and delicious cuisine (aka city of Banh Mi). We spent the whole day there after taking a bamboo boat ride at night in the lake.
I will post the pictures of Halong Bay tour in a separate blog because it deserves a special mention. I hope you enjoyed the pics. Have you ever been to Vietnam? Please comment below.
