Hello my dear friends…
In this post, i want to share my first camping with a campervan experience. Few months ago, me and my husband decided to have a little bit of wild experience for our honeymoon. Rather than stay in a romantic and beautiful hotel, we want to start our honeymoon with some hardships, which is camping. As we can see from the picture i attached, this camping we do is not with a tent but with a car. We choose to use a campervan as the method of our camping because it saves us the trouble to rent 10 other things, and bring them everywhere with us. With campervan, its easy to move here and there. The reason is because we didnt want to stay in just one place. We want to travel and camping in as many place as possible. In this post, i will share our first day of camping in campervan.
Location
There’re many camping spot in Bali but we choose the east to middle route. We also need an easy to reach spot during our first day. We just arrived at the airport around 1 pm and being in a flight, we’re pretty tired and just want to have a comfortable place to rest. We decided to find a spot with max 1 hours driving from the airport. The place we choose are Keramas Beach, its located in Gianyar Regency in Bali. This place is easy to access since its a beach, so we dont have to worry about need to climb a mountain with our car, saving all those energy for the next day. I will recommend to do the same thing as us if you’re a newbie when it came to camping and especially camping in a campervan. This place is also relatively safe because there’re a watchman in there almost 24 hours. This place is also good if you’re not really prepared for anything because there’s a beach bar/ beach stall right beside of our camping site.
Campervan
We choose Puku Camper for our campervan. The reason is only one, the price. This is how we set up our campervan, right in front of the beach and we put our travel chair and table outside while opening our back door. Its because we cook in the back of the car and we eat outside. When it comes to camping, its a must to eat outside except when there’s an emmergency situation hold us back from doing so. In this campervan, we basically almost have everything despite the small size. The car we use is Luxio from Daihatsu. The Puku Camper have 3 car and we choose Luxio because it has the most power out of three despite the old car.
Price
The price of our campervan is 600.000 idr per night. From what we’re gathered, its one of the best price we can find in Bali. Maybe now they have more option or maybe its getting more expensive, so i am not sure. The facilities we can get with the price are a mood lamp, 2 folding chairs, 1 folding table, a bed that can be converted as a chair, 500 watt power to charge our phone and some other things, 35 ltrs water, solar panel and leisure battery, portable stoves, cooking uttensils and dining tools, bluetooth audio, attachable shower, mini fan, and foldable desk. If we want them to deliver the campervan to the airport, we need to pay 180.000 idr more. We choose this way despite the price because its just easier that way.
For the beach, we paid 50.000 for an overnight park. Its a private area and the owner owned a camping site and hostel nearby. Its a good price for the facilities they have. The bathroom is spacious and clean. Its a little bit scary to go to the bathroom especially in the night time because there’s a small bridge we need to cross before we can reach the bathroom. Since its nature, its also pretty dark. There’s no hot water in here, so be ware if its something you need. Personally, me and my husband doesnt need a hot water around beach because its not cold in there.
We arrived in the full moon, so we have the chance to see some people doing rituals in the beach. Its very unique though somehow i feel like i was being intruding, they’re there doing their rituals where me and my husband cooking our food not far from there. Appearantly its totally normal in Bali and thats the beauty of living with a lot of diversity. After they’re finishing their ritual, we had the chance to make a small talk. We thought that they’re hindus from Bali but appearantly they’re not, they’re from Jawa and i dont want to ask further but maybe they have their own faith since they said that they dedicating their ritual to a queen of the sea. Its very interesting and sadly it was already quite late so we cant talk much.
After that, me and my husband decided to close all of our door and put our mood light and we watch Netflix for some time. Its pretty chilly and night and by that time, we’re the only one there in the beach with the watchman check around almost every one hour.
Morning View
We were greeted by this beautiful view in the morning. I have never seen a sunrise in the beach and its as beautiful as sunset in the beach. Its mesmerizing and so calming. We just opened our back door and staring at the beach in our bed for awhile. It feels like the whole world stops and we’re the only one in there. Well, we’re really the only one in there and thats the big perks of camping in weekdays.
Cooking
This is our breakfast, we basically do the same thing for our dinner the night before but i dont want to post the same thing over and its better to share the picture from the morning since its more bright. Me and my husband cook a noodle and eat it with sausage. Its simple but still taste so good. The thoughts of we’re able to cook in our car is very interesting.
Me and my husband enjoying our time.
This is what the campsite looks like in the morning. Since we arrived there quite in the afternoon, we dont have many chance to look around and its getting dark pretty fast.
Since we dont have many things to do. We took a one hour stroll around the beach and this is what the surrounding looks like. There’re many rice fields near the beach. Its a calming walk despite the scorching hot weather. A sunglasses and a hat is a must have in Bali.
