This is the season when there are plenty of things to see in the city. The weather is unpredictable but I'm lucky enough to go to Marina Bay under a beautiful night sky.
Merlion Park has completed its renovation which I missed during my last visit a few months back.
My stroll started at the Marina Bay Sands shopping area. I would never go to this place to shop but I still visit this place to check out the display that they put up for the Chinese New Year. I think they made the best Dragon figure among all of the shopping malls. They never held back when it came to the design and scale of the dragons.
It was a big hit to the locals and tourists as they kept taking turns taking their selfies with the dragons in the background.
If dragons are real then I think this is the best depiction of its look and scale as well.
As soon as I got out of the shopping mall, I went to the exterior deck to watch the Spectra. It's a nightly light show that is free for everyone to watch. I went for the last show which was at 10:00 PM.
I stand along the edge of the deck to be as close as possible to the light show. It's a series of highly controlled water fountains that are fully synchronized with the lighting to create these wonderful flashes of colorful lights. Along with the light is the music that is fully synchronized to the show as well. It feels like watching a concert with the water and light as the performers.
I should have brought a raincoat since I decided to stand along the edge of the watching deck. The wind is towards me so I was slightly soaked from the drizzle that came from the fountains.
At the last minute towards the finale, they blasted all of the fountains and the lighting, and they coupled it with the background music. It was exciting to watch. The show lasted for 15 minutes and it was free. There's no better deal than that.
After the show, I decided to go to the Esplanade so I could walk along the Jubilee Bridge towards Merlion Park. I took the bus from the Bayfront Station Exit B and then rode a bus.
As soon as I reached the Esplanade, I took photos of the Marina Bay and the Sands building. It looks amazing during daytime and still looks amazing at night as well.
I walk along the Jubilee Bridge to go to the other side which is the Merlion Park.
As soon as I reached halfway, I looked back at the Esplanade and was filled with awe at its amazing architecture.
It was 11:00 PM and yet there are plenty of locals and tourists that are still wandering around the area and taking photos of the Merlion. This is how you can tell that the people are still enjoying this site.
I love the city vibe during these late hours of the night. The park is not crowded but there are enough people to make it an enjoyable place to hang out.
See you soon Marina Bay!
