Sometimes simple things like walking in a brand new park is all we need for a closer touch of nature when we can't explore the surroundings, but still need our time away from the city.
After experiencing every season in the last few weeks jumping from 10°C at night to 37°C during the day, heavy storms, and rains that produced floods in more parts of the country, that day with the perfect temperature finally came.
I won't say that there weren't other days with temperatures just right because there were quite a few, but the unstable weather conditions did make us a bit more cautious before planning a full day spent out of the house.
However, last Friday there was inaugurated a brand new park in town but which I only managed to visit 2 days later since my cousin and my aunt visited me during the weekend and we had other plans about how to spend our time together.
Funny or not, even if I would have the chance to visit the park on the first day when it was inaugurated, I think I still won't do it since I try to avoid crowds as much as possible, not just because I don't feel comfortable with a bunch of people around me, but also because it makes it pretty hard to enjoy the place when it's mostly covered by people no matter the direction you are looking to.
So I think things fell into place exactly as they should, just like it happens in most of the cases.
Anyway, on Sunday, both I and my boyfriend felt the need of going on a long walk (15 km) which also made Belvedere Park become part of the route we followed. I mean, it wasn't properly a route since we didn't have a well-determined plan but since we enjoy walking in nature as much as we can (even if that resumes just to parks sometimes), we thought that it's a pretty good idea to make our way to this park that kept the news busy in the last couple of months.
Before reaching the entrance to the park, we crossed a small green area that seemed like a small garden with Japanese Roses and a few benches, but I'm not sure it was part of the park or not being literally near it. However, it felt nice having a place like this which is one step away from the park and could turn into a quiet spot where to read a book if you don't want to be surrounded by kids at every step.
Anyway, since the park was our main mission for the day, we waited no more and entered it.
The first thing that caught my attention were the signs which did a great job presenting us what we are about to see, as well as the directions we should follow in order to reach each area of the park that is more or less dedicated to a specific category of people.
But since we wanted to explore it to the fullest so we have a proper idea about Belvedere Park, we simply started walking around, at first surrounding it and then making our way to the points of interest.
The path that basically creates the shape of the park is quite narrow, which makes you both feel like the whole trail is yours to discover, but which can easily jump to the feeling of being constrained if you meet other people on the way and you are needed to avoid each other.
Still on this part of the trail, we were able to enjoy some amazing views over the industrial part of Sibiu, as well as some areas arranged as follows:
1. For bikers
2. For pets
3. For football and basketball enthusiasts
This was my first time seeing all these activities be created somehow on a separate part of the park where everyone can enjoy their time away from people that don't share the same passion with theirs.
I am actually used with the other parts of the town, especially parks, where both sports fields and bicycle tracks are part of the same paths crossed by the rest of the people, making it hard to enjoy your activity anymore due to the people who don't respect those delimitations for other passions than simply walking in the park. So from this point of view, I'm really happy about what has been done in Belvedere Park where it seems like someone thought about everything.

After walking a bit further, we reached the part that is represented by the name of the park, namely, Belvedere. With such a view all around you and being placed on a rather high altitude in comparison with some parts of the town, it would be impossible not to have this place from where to get a better perspective over the mountains and the hills that don't show too much during the summer, but which will definitely change my mind when snow will start covering the peaks of the mountains.
This part of the park is also where all the fun begins because once you get your dose of fresh air and beautiful views, you will get plenty of activities to enjoy from now on.
The first such activities are the small obstacle area that sparks a lot of curiosity among the little ones, but also a small hill that they can cross either through a tiny tunnel or by climbing a small section that I'd love to experience one day since I enjoy climbing so much.
Another part of the park which can be visible in the left part of the 2nd picture above is the relaxing part of the park arranged with a few hammocks, yet another activity that I'd love to try out on my next visit here since all the hammocks were occupied when we first explored Belvedere Park.
Unfortunately, the single less beautiful part of the park that I could find was that being a fairly new project, there are no big trees to make shadow, and walking around when there are over 25°C is horrible. The lack of big trees is also an impediment for those who want to come with their own hammock to hang, so it makes people haunt the moments when one of the hammocks offered by the park is empty.
The next part of Parcul Belvedere which is very encouraging to keep moving and remain in shape even when you get into a park, is the fitness area which is split into an area for old people with specific exercise machines and one area for teenagers.
Though, the part of the park that made my excitement level increase even more, was represented by the golf surfaces which even though I never played before, it felt nice seeing one arranged in the middle of the park and definitely a new thing in comparison with the rest of the parks in Sibiu.
There is also another area for kids but which is not as equipped as the previous one, being more dedicated to the young kids. Basically making the transition between kids and teenagers.
The rest of the park is nicely decorated with fountains, lots of benches, a spring with potable water, toilets, and plenty of flowers. But with so many activities and well-delimited areas based on various passions, makes it hard to think that you won't find a place where to rest and spend your time.
Belvedere Park is the newest park created in the last 30 years in Sibiu, and it also represents the 2nd largest park in town.
In order to reach it, you can take a bus ride depending on the part of the city you are coming from, but no bus won't bring you closer than 800 meters to the park since there is no route covering that stop yet. Once you reach Street Preot Bacca, you only have to walk forward until you will see the park which is at the end of the street.
