Hello, dreamers!
Last time I shared with you the story of Two Broke Girls in Singapore - Part I. We only spent 2 days in this city but whenever we look back on the experience, it felt as if we lingered a few more days.
Before we move on to Day 2, here's a quick recap...
How we become broke?
We got robbed. One day (I was on night shift) my officemate/housemate was sleeping soundly in our apartment when a group of youngsters broke in. They took my laptop and my friend's phone. (We were just thankful she wasn't hurt.)
I dropped my phone. While vacationing on an island, I accidentally dropped my phone - voila! no phone, no laptop, no gadgets! During our trip, we were using printed maps, and an old phone of my friend's mom that goes off when not connected to the power bank. LOL
Yep, it's the one I was holding in this photo. We missed our flight. As if we were not unfortunate enough, we got stuck in traffic and missed our boarding time by 30-45 minutes.
We got lost in the mall. We did not know what happened but for some reason, we could not find the exit at the Shoppes. LOL!
We fought! They say the best way to know a person is to travel together. Take away all the convenience and boom! inconvenience at its finest, we fought at the rooftop of the mall.
She got injured. Not a major injury though, just an ingrown toenail, but when you are traveling, it is a major pain.
It was an endless walking on our first day despite only a few hours of sleep trying to catch the next flight.
Day 2 - Island Getaway Singapore Edition
For our Day 2, my friend's cousin and her girlfriend accompanied us to Sentosa, an island resort in the southernmost part of Singapore.
First stop, Universal Studios Singapore.
First things first, you have never been to Universal Studios if you have no photo of the globe as your backdrop.
We walked for a few more minutes. Took photos in the cute stores. Bought few snacks and met another Merlion!
...and now the exciting part for a tropical girl like me... the beach!
We crossed a hanging bridge at Siloso Beach towards Palawan Beach, a tiny islet considered as the southernmost point of Continental Asia. How cool is that?
We climb a hut which gives a really nice view of the ocean. Very relaxing.
Look at these two girls having fun as if they did not fight last night. Haha!
All good things must come to an end. After spending a few hours in the island, we had to leave and move on to the next destination.
Cloud Forest - Gardens by the Bay
Singapore's Cloud Forest is home to the world's tallest indoor waterfalls. It really is cool - literally and figuratively.
This place is a must-visit when you come to Singapore. Nature really brings some sort of healing, isn't it? Thank you, Cloud Forest! The country bumpkin in me is really happy. :)
That ended our day. Honestly, I still dream of this place sometimes perhaps because we still have unfinished business here - a lot more places to explore.
In spite of the misfortunes we encountered, this Singapore trip is one we will never forget.
One helluva trip!
It left me into thinking there is really beauty in chaos. There are things we cannot control and that's okay. The best thing that we can do is take a hold of ourselves. Always choose to see the good in the bad, the beauty in the ugly, and let the good things always always come from you.
Thank you for staying with me until this part. Hope you enjoyed reading. Watch out for more exciting and inspiring stories from this some Dale dreamer :) See you in the next one!
