Friends, today let's talk about cycling ride. We three friends did this cycle ride from Bir to Barot. The distance of this road journey was 50 km, in which there was an elevation gain of 1750 meters. I have already told about Bir that this place is famous all over the world for paragliding and Barot is a village under Bada-Bhangal Panchayat. Which is situated on the banks of Uhl river.
So suddenly there was an opportunity to go here because there is a lady living in the neighborhood of Bir, there is a function at her house and she wants us to attend that function. We could not accept his invitation. So we leave for Barot picking up our cycles. By the way, there are two ways to reach Barot, one which goes from Joginder Nagar and the other one goes via Billing. We decide to go the other way.
There is an elevation gain of 1000 meters in a distance of 16 km from Bir to Billing. There was no problem till billing, but the road beyond billing is very bad, otherwise it would be wrong to call it a road. Once cutting has been done on this road from JCB and the result of this cutting was that now every day a land slide keeps happening.
The road from Billing to Rajgunda is only 14 km but on this way we found land slides at 6 places. Every time get off the bicycle, look at the mountain to see if any stone is about to fall and then quickly lift the bicycle on the shoulder and run across the land slide.
After successfully crossing all 6 land slides we cross Rajgunda village. A road from this village leads to Bada Bhangal. Bada Bhangal is the only village in Himachal Pradesh which is situated at a distance of 5 days on foot. Onward we cross a wire bridge over the Uhl river. Badagram village is 6 km away from here. This distance passes through the fields. Here too many times we had to carry the cycle on our shoulders.
After reaching Baragram, we have lunch of pulses and rice. After resting for half an hour, we come back on the seat of the cycle and leave for the last stop. Barot is just 22 km away from here. Before Barot we cross many ancient villages like Multan, Kothikohad etc.
The scenery on this side of the valley is very beautiful. This is the dam built during the British era. To build this dam, the British had brought railway tracks from Joginder Nagar over the mountain. And the material to build the dam came from this railway track. This dam is still safe and sound and even today the tram runs on that railway track.
Well by afternoon we reach our host's house. Our neighbor Didi meets us. Those people are very happy to see all of us. We go to their house and first of all we get tea to drink. After tea, many types of food are available to eat. I liked cow's milk and kheer best.
It was the birthday of Didi's brother's son, so we were invited here. We stayed here after having cake at night. Didi arranged for us to sleep in the upper room. We all had a very good sleep at night. After having breakfast in the morning, we take a family photo with Didi's family and leave for our home.
We come back from Bir via Jogindernagar. So this was our cycle journey till Barot.
