Hello, world! Greetings and happy winter to all who live in the Northern Hemisphere.
Before Advent in Norway there is a tradition of organizing Christmas markets "Julemarkeder." These markets are mostly organized by various organizations and community churches, where they sell different Christmas decorations and treats. The funds raised from these events help support their activities and projects, and everyone puts in a lot of hard work to create items that will attract visitors.
I have visited a couple of these markets before escaping the long cold Norwegian winter. One market was organized by an organization for women called Norske Kvinners Sanitetsforeningen. This group raises funds for various important projects, such as women's health initiatives, programs to support women’s development around the world, and scholarships for students. Their Christmas market is part of the fundraising efforts.
traditionally we don't have a Santa Claus figure but instead, we have lots of Christmas elves.
Different jams preserved fruits, and candies specially made for Christmas, The Norwegian-style candied almonds are always popular
