Adventure awaits! Let's dive into the thrill of natures's playground. Sharing you here my thrilled weekend getaway! This is my first time ever to try a water activity like canyoneering. No lies at all, I was hesitant for multiple times thinking if am going to do it or not. YOLO and life are too short not to try something new, right?
Introducing Kawasan Falls located at Brgy. Matutinao,Badian Cebu. This is estimated 3 to 4 hours’ drive from Cebu City.
This place is famous for its beautiful bluish-green flowing waters with different waterfall levels. They offer canyoneering as their water activity. So, Me and my sister-in-law together with my husband’s cousins decided to try this activity. If you really wanted to try this, you may choose half-course or full-course. Our group chooses full-course trip in which our starting point is at the top most level of the falls down to the first level. And how long does it take to finish the full course canyoneering? It depends on the adrenaline but typically it takes 5-6 hours for you to complete the canyoneering.
The funny thing here is, I don’t know how to swim and all I have is courage and faith together with my life vest. This was part of the activity where you need to swing like a monkey and jump into the water. Once you jumped in, all you need to do is shout and close your eyes with a baggage of bravery. (I’m so proud of you SELF)
Hands down for the province of Cebu for having all the best of nature. Most specially Kawasan Falls because the flowing waters are very refreshing, they have beautiful scenery, and the tour guides are very generous and kind. One of the memorable things we’ve done during the activity is taking a lot of pictures and all thanks to our guide because he is so good in teaching us how take unique photos.
What are the things you do during Canyoneering at Kawasan Falls?
This is the perfect getaway for your group of friends because you can do a lot of things like trekking, cliff jumping, swimming, rock hopping, and slides. It defines real adventure as it involves travelling down sturdy rocks and dive into the water. It’s normal to feel nervous at first but later on you will get used in jumping on the streams within a canyon. Nothing to worry because from the starting point the Alegria Tourism Office will provide two tour guides in every group and they will be the one to do the orientation and will guide you all throughout the course.
Salute to our tour guide (I forgot his name) he is a generous man and he is also very patient to us since there are times when we got hesitant to jump and causes delay, still, he able to manage and assist us until we finish the course. My bad I wasn’t able to take a picture of him.
To those who wanted to try this in the future, I can assure you that this is fun but always make sure that safety first and listen to your assigned tour guides since they are experts about the place and the right things to do. Since it involves jumping and hopping activity, it is better to wear safety shoes or rubber shoes along with helmets. And also, the organization will not allow any individuals to do canyoneering without safety gears. So yeah! Safety first!
My dear Hivers! We can do work-leisure balance life and this can contribute greatly in our well-being. Engaging in this kind of activities is like an outlet in relieving our stress in life. Most of the time we keep working non-stop until we got burnout and stress and this can lead to irritations, short-tempered and poor performance to poor mental/physical health. And Yes, it’s true that making time for leisure is another expenses but to tell you, there are various activities outside that we can do for free like walking at the park, public beaches or hiking.
As we get older, we are already an excessive baggage of responsibilities that is why we sometime forget what “fun” really is. We tend to draw a line for something more important for us. So right in this moment, try to figure out what fun really is for you.
I hope you had a great day! This is #xoloveshoney and I I’ll see you again on my next blog.
