Hello fellow travellers
Yesterday, I went to explore an important festival that takes place every year in a very important village a few kilometres from my home called Soave.
Below, I practically leave you the map so you can see where this location is, which this year became the most beautiful village in Italy.
Most of the people who live in this village and make their living from agriculture, the cultivation of vines for the production of grapes is widespread here, in fact Soave is known not only in Italy but also all over the world for its white wine.
And this year, as every year, I participated in the grape festival, this important product that is cultivated in these areas, and which is fundamental to the production of good wine.
My visit to this event started in the morning, I took a little walk through the streets of the village which were decorated with lots of grapes, they even hung me a little on the characteristic medieval gate, which is practically the entrance to the village.
A small handicrafts market was also set up in the main street of the village, as well as the classic antiques market that takes place in Soave every third Sunday of the month.
Below I leave you a video I shot a few months ago just about the antiques market.
So I continued my walk along the main street, looking at all these stalls and taking a few photos
At the end of the street, inside the town hall building, a very historic building, there was also an exhibition of bonsai trees, and since I was also a bonsai enthusiast from the past, I paid a visit to this exhibition and took some photos to share here.
I was a little disappointed because there weren't so many bonsai trees on display, however as it was a free exhibition I still enjoyed it. From my experience I have to say that it takes a lot of experience but also a lot of patience to grow these small plants.
Near the exit of the exhibition, a vintage coach was parked, it is called the lupetto and was a coach that was in service in the 1970s if I am not mistaken, there is a project to revive this vehicle to explore the hills of the village of Soave but also to take the many tourists up to the castle.
I must say, a wonderful initiative on the part of the municipality of Soave.
It was very interesting to walk through the streets of the village, and to see these people doing demonstrations and showing you how they used to make their handicrafts.
I came back after lunch, because the most important event of the grape festival was taking place, as a sucker for all the authorities but also for the many folk groups in the area, there was even a group from Hungary, I from Bulgaria.
And as you can see from the photos, there was a great turnout of people in the afternoon, and they were very happy to see this parade.
I stayed until the evening, because they were organising a small musical miracle with a local artist
But I actually stayed until late, because it was late that there was the fireworks display, one of the most beautiful in the entire province of Verona, and then there is the characteristic mock burning of the castle, a tradition that has been going on for several years.
My story ends here, I hope you enjoyed it and that you also liked my photos, I have tried to tell you the best of this fantastic day I spent here in Soave, and I hope you have the chance to visit this village because it is really beautiful, then if you happen to be there during the grape festival or the wine festival you will find a very welcoming and very lively atmosphere.
Have a good day, and see you in the next post.
