Hello dear #hivers travellers of this beautiful community,
today I want to share with all those who love nature in its purest state some impressions that I have been taking from one of the most beautiful route in the world, the so-called Seven Lakes Road, in the heart of Argentine Patagonia, an itinerary that we have not only travelled from end to end but we have also explored every corner, every lake, every river, every forest and whose images I now share with the whole community.
We have had the opportunity to admire beautiful landscapes and forests of native species of this region and to cross wonderful water mirrors in a relatively short stretch -just over 100 kms- that joins the cities of Villa La Angostura and San Martín de los Andes, a truly paradisiacal place.
Every lake, every place we have found in this beautiful region has its enchanted, magical and special touch, but without a doubt, what makes Lake Machónico even more attractive is that it is one of the least known lakes (who knows why, it is difficult to understand why) but also one of the most fascinating, which can be appreciated in all its beauty and splendour from the magnificent panoramic viewpoint not far from the city of San Martín de los Andes (barely 30 kms).
From this point we can see the entire beach and a panoramic view of the waters of Lake Machonico. Then we descend carefully so as not to slip between the stones, roots of the plants (sometimes holding on to the branches of the trees) so as not to fall we cross a small forest and finally reach the beach where we find some fishermen on an afternoon in which the sun was already beginning to decline announcing that in a few hours twilight would begin and thus decreeing the end of a dreamed afternoon.
As all along this route there are improvised car parks on the side of the road, but you have to be careful because sometimes there is not enough space to leave the car safely. However, if you have chosen to cycle this route, this problem will not arise for sure.
The waters of this lake are quite warm, as a consequence of a kind of microclimate that is generated in this kind of valley between mountains, in spite of having a glacial origin like the other lakes, since they originate in the foothills of the Cordillera de los Andes and product of the thawing of the high peaks.
We notice with surprise that camping is not allowed, as there is no camping area and numerous signs warn us about the prohibition to make fires and remind us to bring back with us the bag with the waste we have generated.
Another characteristic - also common to other sectors of this itinerary - is the lack of mobile phone signal, which in this multimedia era can cause some people to feel uneasy about the possibility of any unforeseen event or misfortune that may occur. Ideally, it is best to spend the night elsewhere and visit only during daylight hours.
Pets are not allowed either - we do not agree with this, as pets do not really destroy the environment and if they are properly cared for and kept under control they do not cause any problems, the destructive action is done by humans, sometimes ex-profeso and sometimes unintentionally - but in any case it is common to see families with dogs.
Water sports are available on the lake, mainly in the summer - we travelled here in late spring but saw some canoes along the lake anyway - and tourists can navigate the lake with kayaks and canoes, but motorboats are strictly forbidden because of the noise and echoes they cause, which can disturb and alienate the many unique animal species native to this region.
You can walk leisurely along the lake's long beach and for those who like adventure there is a beach a little further away but to reach it you have to walk across a stretch of the lake or around part of the lake through the forest.
The trails are not well marked and it is convenient to have your hands free to always find a support point, which is why it is ideal to carry everything you need in a backpack on your back.
The main advantage is that if we travel on hot days and we want to take a bath in this part of the lake, the water is even warmer. It has the particularity of being able to walk a few metres into the water without danger, unlike other beaches where the bottom disappears abruptly and those who do not know how to swim can find themselves in serious difficulties.
From the point of view of its tourist visibility, perhaps it has been a little "obfuscated" by Lake Lácar, since it belongs to the same basin, and being located within the same city of San Martín de los Andes, it offers comforts, infrastructure and services to the tourist that the Machónico does not have, but this does not diminish the natural charm it possesses.
In short, a charming and quiet place, suitable for individual travellers, couples or families to recharge their batteries in a magical and natural environment.
Hola queridos #hivers viajeros de esta hermosa comunidad,
hoy quiero compartir con todos aquellos que amen la naturaleza en su estado más puro algunos impresiones que he sido sacando de una de la ruta más linda del mundo, el llamado Camino de los Siete Lagos, en plena patagonia argentina, itinerario que no solo hemos recorrido de punta a punta sino que además hemos explorado cada rincón, cada lago, cada rio, cada bosque y cuyas imágenes ahora comparto con toda la comunidad.
Hemos tenido la oportunidad de admirar bellísimos paisajes y bosques de especies nativas de esta región y recorrer maravillosos espejos de agua en un tramo relativamente corto -poco más de 100 kms- que une a las ciudades de Villa La Angostura con San Martín de los Andes, un lugar verdaderamente paradisíaco.
Cada lago, cada lugar que hemos encontrado en esta hermosa región tiene su toque encantado, mágico y especial pero sin dudas, lo que lo hace al Lago Machónico aún más atractivo es que se trata de uno de los lagos menos conocidos (quien sabe por qué, es difícil entender el motivo) pero también uno de los más fascinantes que se puede apreciar en toda su belleza y esplendor desde el magnífico mirador panorámico poco distante de la ciudad de San martín de los Andes (apenas 30 kms).
Desde este punto punto podemos observar la totalidad de la playa y una vista panorámica de las aguas del Lago Machonico. Luego descendemos con cuidado para no resbalar entre las piedras, raíces de las plantas (a veces agarrándonos de las mismas ramas de los árboles) para no caer atravesamos un pequeño bosque y accedemos finalmente a la playa donde encontramos algunos pescadores en una tarde en la cuál el sol ya comenzaba a declinar anunciando que dentro de pocas horas comenzaba el crepúsculo y decretar de esta manera el final de una tarde soñada.
Como a lo largo de toda esta ruta hay estacionamientos improvisados al margen de la misma pero hay que tener cuidado porque a veces el espacio no es suficiente para dejar el auto con cierta seguridad. Si en cambio hemos elegido la bicicleta para hacer este itinerario este problema no se presentará de seguro.
Las aguas de este lago son bastante cálidas, como consecuencia de una especie de microclima que se genera en esta especie de valle entre montañas, a pesar de tener un origen glaciar como los restantes lagos, ya que se originan en la falda de la Cordillera de los Andes y producto del deshielo de las altas cumbres. Notamos con sorpresa que no se puede acampar ya que no hay área destinada al camping y numerosos carteles nos advierten sobre la prohibición de hacer fuego y recordarnos de llevar de vuelta con nosotros la bolsa con los residuos que hemos generado.
Otra característica -común también a otros sectores de este itinerario- es la falta de señal para los celulares, razón por la cuál en esta era multimediática en algunas personas puede provocar una sensación de inquietud ainte la posibilidad de cualwuier imprevisto o infortunio que se pueda presentar. Lo ideal es pasar la noche en otra parte y visitarlo solo durante las horas diurnas.
Tampoco se permiten las mascotas -en esto no estamos muy de acuerdo, ya que las mascotas en realidad no destruyen el medio ambiente y si son debidamente cuidadas y tenidas bajo control no generan ningún problema, la acción destructiva está a cargo del ser humano, a veces ex-profeso y otras veces en forma involuntaria- pero de cualquier manera es habitual ver familias con perros.
En el lago se pueden practicar deportes acuáticos, principalmente en el verano -nosotros viajamos hacia finales de la primavera pero vimos igualmente algunas canoas a lo largo del lago-; el turista puede navegarlo con kayaks y canoas, pero está absolutamente prohibida la navegación a motor por el ruido y el eco que ocasiona y puede disturbar y alejar las numerosas especies animales únicas y nativas de esta región.
Se puede caminar con tranquilidad por la extensa playa del lago y para aquellos a los que la aventura los atraiga hay una playa un poco más lejos pero para alcanzarla hay que superar un tramo del lago o rodeando una parte del lago a través del bosque.
Los senderos no están bien marcados y es convenientes tener las manos libres para encontrar siempre algún punto de apoyo, razón por la cuál lo ideal es llevar todo lo necesario en una mochila sobre nuestras espaldas.
La principal ventaja es que si viajamos en días de calor y queremos darnos un baño en esta parte del lago el agua es más templada aún.
Tiene la particular de poder caminar unos metros dentro del agua sin peligro a diferencia de otras playas en las cuales el fondo desaparece abruptamente y quien no sabe nadar puede encontrarse en serias dificultades.
Desde el punto de vista de su visibilidad turística tal vez haya sido un poco "ofuscada" por el Lago Lácar ya que pertenece a su misma cuenca, y encontréndose aquél otro dentro de la misma ciudad de San martín de los Andes ofrece comodidades, infraestructura y servicios al turista que el Machónico no tiene, pero esto no dismnuye mínimamente el encanto natural que posee.
En definitiva, un lugar encantador y tranquilo, apto para viajeros individuales, parejas o familias para reponer energías en un ambiente mágico y natural.
