As someone who was born and grew up in Iligan City, anyone would agree that Timoga Spring Pools are one of a kind.
Why?
TBH, when I moved to Cebu City in my senior year of High School and went to a swimming pool there, I was SHOCKED and disappointed.
Why?
Because as soon as I jumped into the waters of the pool in Cebu, I felt that the water was warm and really chlorinated.
Why?
Because unlike in the Timoga Spring Pools in Iligan, the source of the water is from a spring which means that you will be swimming in icy-cold fresh water and no chlorine solution.
(I just did a 3 Whys for Root Cause Analysis HAHAHA)
Anyway, let's move forward and explore this place.
About Timoga
Timoga Spring Pools is a collection of springs and there are 4 spring resorts in this area. This is located in Brgy. Buru-un in Iligan City, which is around 30 mins travel from the City center.
There are multiple resorts that you can choose from depending on your wants. But for sure there are child-friendly pools, adult-friendly pools, and olympian-friendly pools. I included olympian-friendly pools because most of the resorts have an Olympic pool and even a 16-foot deep pool! This time, I was with my uncle, cousin, and nieces so we opted to go to El Lauriento Holiday Pools which majority of their pools are child-friendly.
El Lauriento Holiday Swimming Pools
El Lauriente Holiday Pool has around 5 pools and 3 of them are child-friendly with depths of around 1-2 meters only. It has a vibrant design with figures of animals, fun slides, and more which kids will truly enjoy (aside from the cold and freshwater).
They do have an entrance fee of P100 each for adults, and kids up to 3 years old (I think) are free. They have table ranges good for 4 people up to 20 people for rent. You can have a quick swimming session, or you can even have a party here. Most of the Iliganons go to Timoga to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and other life events.
Since these are the best swimming pools in Iligan City, it surely is crowded during the weekends. Because of that, we opted to visit there during the weekdays and that didn't disappoint since there were only a few people.
Mimar's Springway Resort
Since I'm blogging about Timoga, I will include the resorts that I've been to in the past.
Last 2016, my family went to Mimar's Springway Resort. This is also found in the Timoga Spring Pools and is just beside the other resorts. I think this is the smallest of all 4 spring resorts however they feature a natural mini-waterfall stream within the resort!
I previously posted a full blog about Mimar's Springway Resort here.
Dela Mar Resort
If you are someone who would like to swim in a wide-open Olympic spring pool and indulge in a 16-foot deep pool, Dela Mar Resort is for you. Situated as well in the Timoga Spring Pools which would require you to at least hike some stairs to go to a top of a hill where their highlight spring pools are located.
I've been here years ago so please forgive me as I only have drone shots.
When you visit Iligan City, you need to spend a day enjoying the Timoga Spring pools. You can select up to 4 resorts depending on your wants but rest assured the experience will be fun, and refreshing as you will be swimming into an icy-cold, fresh, and flowing spring water.
How to Get There?
Timoga Spring Pools are just located along the highway so it will be easy for you to go there by private vehicle. You can just search and pin Timoga on your Google Maps or Waze. But if you are commuting, you can simply ride a bus or jeepney to Buru-un from either of these places in the city center — (1) Iligan City National High School; or (2) Zoey's Cafe.
I hope you enjoy this blog post and hope to see you frolicking around Iligan City soon!
