Hello, adventurers and everyone in the Hive!
The Chinese New Year reminded me one of those holidays when we went for an adventure in one of Hong Kong's tourist attractions.
The Ocean Park being huge and so many things and spots to see, I would be featuring the Grand Aquarium, for today.
So brace yourselves and let's head on to the Darkest Depths of the seas!
This signage welcomed us as we entered the aquarium. From here, we sensed there was so much more to see.
We were not disappointed when these beauties mesmerized our eyes and brought out the kid in us that we kept discreetly muttering "wow!" or "look at those!" as we held our breath in adoration.
The extent to which the aquarium was built is so astounding. It felt we were underwater (minus the getting wet and swimming part), looking at these amazing wealth before our very eyes.
It is also worth mentioning that during our visit, there were a lot of kids along with their parents, so yeah, we joined them in anticipation of what else the grand aquarium has in store for us.
These were like huge rooms designed for different species, all had their own amenities - coral gardens with algae, white sands, rocks and many others.
And they've got plenty of space too! These beautiful aquatic creatures must be really happy with what they have in there!
But yes, quite literally, we felt like we have been transported to the depths of the ocean with these sea wonders and sights.
Prior to this visit, we have never been to any underwater exploration so you can imagine just how fascinated and awestruck we were. We can only mumble Wow! and "Oh my God" in astonishment as we watched these lovely ocean magnets do their thing inside their man-made homes.
And here's what they called the Leafy Sea Dragon. At first, we thought it was a seaweed or a kind of aquatic plant until it moved and swam. Anyone who had no idea about it would definitely mistake it as a plant especially when it stays stationary :)
Further research astounded me even more 'coz I learned that the male Sea Dragons are the ones responsible for childbearing which is completely new to me. I always thought females are the only ones able to carry eggs!
Anyway, let's now move to those seen above our heads! There were many of them that I can't even begin to identify any and I am not really sure if anyone can do that too :)
They are fascinating to watch them in formation with their movements seemingly coordinated. It made me wonder if they were doing some kind of a show. They must have sensed we were down there watching them, lol!
There must be hundreds or even thousands of these species in this space. Just too many of them swimming here and there. And they even stayed in somewhat coordinated motion at some point in time.
And here's a glimpse of a starfish up there. Sorry but it is blurry :) There were plenty of photos on my archive but for some reason, all of them were of poor capture quality. I vow to take a better camera next time, lol!
And I'll leave you with these beautiful wee coral gardens which I am not sure if they were real or just replicas.
Thank you and I wish you a fabulous day!
