My adventurous self is always excited to explore amazing places. Hello, Hivers! 😍 How are guys doing? I hope everyone is safe out there. I am back for another Rejourney and this time, I'm gonna be taking you to one of the amazing peak in Dalaguete, Cebu, Philippines. This place is also known for the famous Osmeña Peak, but little did I know that just a few minutes hike from this peak, there's another peak that lies with a breathtaking view. Let's get to explore more about LUGSANGAN PEAK.🌄
Every time I hear the word "Dalaguete (pronounced as Dalaget), the first thing that comes into my mind is the "Summer Capital of Cebu." Even during summer, this place continuously remained true to its name as the "Little Baguio of Cebu" due to its all-year round cool climate, fresh vegetables, strawberry farm and scenic mountain rages like Lugsangan Peak.
Lugsangan Peak is exactly located in Sitio Lugsangan, Brgy. Tabon, Dalaguete, Cebu, Philippines. This is about a two-hours drive from Cebu City.
How to get here?
🚌 By Bus:
If you are coming from Cebu City, head on to the South Bus Terminal and ride a bus that's bound to Oslob and ask the driver to drop you off at Dalaguete Public Market. From here, you could either decide to ride a habal-habal going to the starting point of Osmeña Peak (this is the nearest peak to Lugsangan Peak) or you could actually start your hike from the public market depending on which options you are going to take.
🚗 By Car:
Navigate Dalaguete Public Market through Waze or Google Maps. Upon reaching here, you could ask the locals which way to take going to the starting point of Osmeña Peak (this is the nearest peak to Lugsangan Peak). There's a parking space available upon reaching the area.
Upon arriving at the starting point of Osmeña Peak, my friends and I started our hike going to the starting point of Lugsangan Peak. When we arrived here, we were greeted with a smile by the locals. We registered our names on their log book and listened to the instructions carefully. Since some of my friends are good at following the trail, then we agreed not to hire for a guide anymore. This is so exciting!😍
LUGSANGAN PEAK requires extra caution because of its narrow form. From the starting point, this peak is just about a kilometer walk, but more rocky compared to Osmeña Peak so we always watch our step and guided each other. That wasn't really an easy climb up there, but with the excitement that we all have of what's the view at the peak keeps us going.
This is also a great adventure and exercise for me and my friends. Since Dalaguete, Cebu, Philippines is popularly known as the "vegetable basket of Cebu , we happen to pass by into different kinds of planted vegetables on our way to the tip of this peak. The weather here is really cold and fog is also visible at times. Even if this peak is just a kilometer away from the starting point, we really had a challenging climb up here.
After some time of struggle to reach the tip of Lugsangan Peak , we're finally here. Wooooooh! That was such an extraordinary trail that we had to pass on.😅 Sweat really came out in this thrilling adventure.
My friends and I took some photos of this incredible view at the top. We really witnessed that 360 degrees view of Cebu up here.
It just feels really great to be one with nature.😍 This is really the kind of stress reliever I badly needed. For a moment, I am just right here, enjoying God's beautiful creation here on Earth. He is truly an artist with a great masterpiece.
With this view right here, you will get to experience a “Chocolate hills” like view of that like the one in Bohol, Philippines as seen from Lugsangan Peak.
LUGSANGAN PEAK has an elevation of 1,005 ASL (Above Sea Level). This peak was formerly known as Casino Peak , because the summit served as a hideaway for the locals during the Japanese occupation and they would play a game of head or tail locally known as hantak. Since this place before involves gambling then they named this peak as Casino Peak, but recently it is now known as Lugsangan Peak because it’s located in Brgy. Lugsangan which was already registered in Dalaguete Tourism. I learned about this through my conversation with the locals here. Such an interesting history of this spectacular place.😍
I am standing right here on the narrow Lugsangan Peak while showing its other side to where Osmeña peak is situated. Just a little back story of this photoshoot right here at the tip of the peak, it may seem so easy to do this pose, but believe me my knees were trembling a bit.😅 Aside from the fact that this has a narrow and rocky peak, the wind was really strong since its an open space up there. You need to be very extra careful not be out of balance. It was a struggle journey going up here, but just like for someone like me who wanted to reach a lot of dreams in life, the beginning will always be the hardest, but once you reach the top of it, you will witness how beautiful are the things that God has prepared for us.
The key here is to never give up. When tired, just take a pause and keep going because life is always meant to be travelled forward. The more you do this, the more that you will appreciate what lies ahead of you.❤️
My friends and I stayed here for like an hour. We just enjoyed the fresh air and fantastic view of Lugsangan Peak. After which, we headed home with so much happiness and fulfillment that we were able to conquer again another peak that's really worth the climb.
