Hello, Hive Community.π How are you guys doin'? I hope you're all safe.π On my previous travel experience, I shared to you how captivating Camotes Island is. This time, Rejourney goes to Apo Island and Siquijor Island. π
I've always heard how beautiful Siquijor is few years ago from my friends. I got curious about it and made this as part of my bucket list. This is my first time to be in this place and I could really say that Siquijor Island is absolutely a beautiful paradise in the Philippines. This place is definitely perfect for outdoor enthusiast like me.
I just can't keep the amusement I got when I landed at the seaport of Siquijor Island. I was totally amazed how clean their seaport is. I could vividly remember the "Wow" reaction of the tourists that I got to encounter upon arriving in this paradise. I totally miss this place while recalling my first time experience in this Island.
Siquijor Island is definitely blessed with white sand beaches. This island is also known as the mystic Island of Central Visayas.
Meet Ann and Eman. They are my travel buddies for this trip. Ann is my college close friend and we are like sisters already, while Eman is a good friend of Ann that eventually became a good friend of mine. Ann and I are both from Cebu City, Philippines while Eman is from Dumaguete City, Philippines. Since Eman used to travel in this Island, he volunteered to tour us in some of the awesome places here in Siquijor Island. I am so blessed to have such amazing friends who made me laugh so hard all throughout this trip.
If you get to visit Siquijor Island, I would definitely recommend Larena Triad Coffee Shop. This place was suggested by my good friend Eman. I totally enjoyed the place since it is located at the Triad view deck with an overlooking view at the top of the hill. You can also see the the panoramic view of Siquijor Island and helps you escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. We were satisfied by the quality of their food. Their customer service was great as well.π
KANHERON is a coined Visayan term for Kaniadto ug Karon (Then and Now). When you get to visit this place here in Siquijor Island, you'll definitely have that Western Experience vibe. This place is a Western designed tourist spot filled with Western architectural.
In life, it feels good when you have a true friend that you could spend amazing memories with. I'm so blessed to have a friend like Ann who has been with me in every journey that we take in life. Our friendship started when we were in first year college wherein we even struggled a lot just to pay for our school fees. During our college days, we don't have that extra budget to spend on travels. We were so focused on prioritizing our needs. Looking back, I am so grateful that I get to have a friend who has been with me through thick and thin. From sharing our journey inside the classroom to sharing travel memories in the present. Special thanks to Eman for being our photographer. π
There are scenic waterfalls that can be found in Siquijor Island, however we were just able to explore Cambugahay falls for this trip. As much as we would want to explore more of the tourists spots here in Siquijor Island, unfortunately our time won't permit then. We only scheduled for a day trip here and catch the last trip of the boat going back to Eman's place in Dumaguete City because we also have other important plans to do the following day of this trip. However, we really enjoyed our adventure in this falls.
We got unlimited swings on the rope before leaving and spend some time laughing and talking about life. For a moment, we were a like a kid again who has nothing to worry about. The weather wasn't that good when we arrived here at our last spot for this adventure, however I am really planning to be back here to explore more of this waterfalls which is considered as one of the best waterfalls to visit here in Siquijor Island.
Now I'm gonna take you on my next Island adventure. Let's go to APO ISLAND! π This Island is located off the Southeastern tip of Negros Island in the Philippines. This fantastic Island is considered as one of the best diving spots not just in the Philippines but also in the world. When I learned about this, I got so excited to have my first diving experience here. Good thing our schedule with my close friends aligned.
I am with my adventurous friends for this trip and this time, we are joined by our other close friend, Carmel.π΄
I definitely love the locals here. They treated us like family. From Eman's humble home in Dumaguete City, we headed to Malatapay Apo Seaport in Zamboangita. We just took the public ceres bus going there. We asked the driver to drop us off on the road by the Malatapay market. We are so lucky that this is Eman's second time going to Apo Island so he served as our tour guide again all throughout this trip.
Upon reaching at Malatapay market, we were greeted with a smile by the locals. We headed to the beach and the port can easily be located. You have two options for boats upon going to Apo Island. You could either choose a public boat or a private boat.
My friends and I opted to have public boat. The ones that we ride on going to Apo Island was also the same boat and the same locals who took us back to Malatapay market after our scuba diving experience in the Island. On our trip going there, my heart was really happy talking to the in-charge of the boat. They really have the purest hearts who works tirelessly so that they could have something to provide for their family. Being someone who is a daughter of a fisherman, their stories humbles me even more.β€οΈ
SAFETY SHOULD BE A PRIORITY.
Upon arriving at the Island, we were greeted by the locals there. We had to sign up our names on the log book and then we had the diving seminar (which is included already on the fee that we paid which is 2,500.00 by that time) before we go into the waters. Since this is our first time to do scuba diving (except for Eman) we all listened attentively on the instructions given to us because the moment that we go underwater, it would all be sign languages that will be used to communicate to our diving masters. I really learned a lot from the discussion and I got so excited to check off my bucket list for scuba diving.
Based on my research and interaction with the locals, Apo Island is one of the best diving sites not just in the Philippines but also in the world. In my experience, I got to see a lot of colorful coral reefs, species of fish, green sea turtle and other marine life. Apart from checking off scuba diving on my bucket list, this experience is also a great reminder for us to be responsible citizens so that these beautiful marine life will not be destroyed. I really enjoyed this adventure most especially that I got to spend it with my friends. Cheers to more adventures in the future! π
