Travelling is about collecting memories for me. When I got the chance to explore a certain place, I would really grab that opportunity.β£οΈ
Hello, Hive Community.π I hope you're all doing great out there.π For this Rejourney, I will take you into the places that I fell in love with and that would be in Dumaguete City, Philippines and Negros Oriental, Philippines.
DUMAGUETE was coined from the Cebuano word "dagit" which means "to snatch" and I guess that's what happened to me, I got "snatched" on how beautiful this place is.π I never thought that I was able to visit this amazing place twice already before the pandemic. Yes, you heard it right. The first time I was here was when I had my passport appointment. I have no regrets of travelling from Cebu City to Dumaguete City by that time, because that's when I discovered how interesting this city is.
The first time I was here, I really had limited time to explore this place, because I got busy prioritizing my passport appearance. However, I went back here the second time and that's when I explored not just Dumaguete City, but also Negros Oriental.
Now, I'm gonna be sharing to you my unforgettable experiences both here in Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental. Since Dumaguete City is the capital city of Negros Oriental, I also visited on the amazing tourist spots in Negros.
The first time that I step on to Dumaguete City, I stayed at The Flying Fish Botique Hostel with my close friend Ann. I really love how accommodating the staffs here. The place was also clean. The best part of staying in this hostel is that I got to meet a lot of people coming from all walks of life. Some are from the Philippines and others are even from foreign countries that I got to exchange conversations with. They've been travelling for such a long time already and if there's one thing that I would always remember from what they shared that would be "Explore, have the best time of your life because the world has so much to offer and time is something you can never bring back."
Travelling is more exciting when we got to share it with our close friends. Meet Eman, Carmel and Ann. They are my travel buddies for this trip. We are from Cebu City while Eman is from Dumaguete City. We really had a smooth tour on this trip since Eman lives in Dumaguete City and he is also very much familiar on the beautiful spots in Negros Oriental. Let the adventure begins! π
I am so happy that I got to visit the church of Dumaguete City. Most of the time when I am new to the place, I really get so excited to visit the church and pray there. Apart from this, I had the chance to visit Sans Rival Cakes and pastries in Dumaguete City and got to taste their famous delicacy which is the Silvanas.
In the mountains of Negros Oriental peacefully lie the captivating Lake Balinsasayao and its twin lake, Lake Danao. When you are at the top of this breathtaking view, you will get to see that the lake is a heart-shaped one. Upon our conversation with the locals, the twin lakes of Balinsasayao and Danao have formed from a volcanic eruption about 10,000 years ago and the 90 meter deep craters over time have filled up with water from rain and stream deposits, resulting in the two lakes, separated by a narrow mountain ridge.
"Take nothing but pictures; leave nothing but footprints; kill nothing but time." has always been the gentle reminder from the locals in this place. Unfortunately, you cannot swim in the Balinsasayao Twin Lakes as the water from the lakes sources the town of Dumaguete and it needs to stay as clean as possible. There are also volcanic components in the lake which are not very good for your skin. While we were here, we just enjoyed the view and happy moments together.
This is the other side of the lake where we also took some photos. That's me and Ann in the photo. We are close friends but sometimes could look like sisters because of our closeness and strong bond.π
Tara coffee? π Imagine having your cup of coffee with this view or how about breakfast? Relaxing right?π Alimyon Kapehan is a must-visit place in Janay-Janay, San Jose, Negros Oriental, Philippines. It has a scenic view both of the mountains and the ocean. This place has fantastic views, very good coffee, and very friendly service. Such an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.π
Alimyon Kapehan in Negros Oriental, Philippines is a nice place to satisfy your cravings for traditional Visayan snacks, meals and coffee. This place is also the best place to be to catch up with friends. I am blessed to have amazing friends right here that I got to share this happy moments with.β€οΈ
The Forest Camp Mountain Resort is located in Taft St, Valencia, Negros Oriental, Philippines. This resort is perfect for those who wanted to be just by themselves, for couples of for group vacations. There are many pools around and it is filled with fresh mountain waters that's quite cold.
,
You could also book a room at the Forest Camp when you wanted to have an overnight stay. In our case, we just had a day use since we still have other places to explore the following day which is a bit distant from this place. Our stay here was really worth it and I am definitely gonna come back soon.
It was already after lunch when we arrived at this place so we just ordered these foods for our snacks at their restaurant. We had their delicious pizza and some refreshments.π
The resort's tropical vibe is accented with instagrammable spots.π This is also considered as the little Bali of the Philippines. π I really enjoyed my short vacation here and would definitely come back again the future.
PUNCAK TANAWAN
On our last day in Dumaguete City, we really made sure to chase the sunrise at Puncak Tanawan. This is the famous hiking site in the island of Negros Oriental. This spectacular view is located in 86V6+VV4, Sibulan, Negros Oriental.
"Puncak" is an Indonesian term for peak or top, while "Tanawan" is a Filipino word which means a place from where one can view things far away. Puncak Tanawan will give you a panoramic view of Dumaguete City as well as nearby islands like Cebu, Siquijor and Apo Island.
This tourist destination here in Sibulan Negros Oriental is truly a perfect place to distress and recharge. I am so happy that I got to spend this unforgettable experience with my close friends. Just like my relationship with my close friends, Puncak Tanawan is really something that's worth to be treasured.β€οΈ I will definitely revisit this place soon. π
The Philippines has a lot of amazing places to offer and I am glad that little by little I got to explore it while I still have time. Cheers to more travel experience in the future! π
