As a student of the Fisheries department, we have a course related to nutrition, and the primary target of that course is to make the best quality feed for aquatic creatures mostly for fish. The course was a very interesting one and I enjoyed gaining knowledge about the course. Theoretical knowledge has some limitations and we need some practical knowledge. It's true that in the university lab, we learned a little about practical knowledge but there was no facility to know how fish feed is made in a factory. To enrich our knowledge, the course teacher arranged a field trip to a feed Mill factory. The course teacher arranged an appointment with the factory manager and he gave permission to visit the Fish feed mill factory. The feed mill company was a well-reputed company in our country and the name of it is the Provita feed mill company.
When we reached in Provita feed mill company it was approximately after 2.00 p.m. The manager was very friendly we met with him in the conference room. The conference room was well designed and the overall environment was quite friendly for discussion. After reaching there we started to ask various kinds of questions to the manager related to the feed mill factories and quality of feed. After a moment I feel like we are interviewing the factory manager 😅 and he might feel angry about it. The factory manager was very friendly and he enjoyed giving the answer. I think he was experienced in facing that kind of situation and it's natural because he was working in the factory for 17 years.
The discussion finished within 1 hour. According to our plan after the conference meeting, we would take our lunch at a nearby restaurant and then we go for me factory visit. But the manager gave us surprises and he arranged lunch for us. In fact, He was waiting for us and didn't have lunch of his own. Our professor felt a little bit bad because the factory manager was waiting for us and didn't take lunch till that time. So we started to have lunch there and the arrangement was done earlier.
We finished lunch and after that time manager asked us if we wanted tea or coffee. Honestly, we were feeling a little bit shy when the factory manager asked for it. But our professor made things easier for us and said "Tea should be enough for us". The manager asked an employee to arrange for tea. After enjoying tea we felt energetic and so we headed towards the factory visit.
It was almost the end of the afternoon time and the sunlight was disappearing with time. There were some trucks available for transportation which is very natural and common for every factory.
After entering the factory I saw the room was huge and most of the raw materials for making fish feed mill were present there in sacks. There I noticed sound pollution and it's common for a mill. The noise of sound was so huge that I was wondering how the workers do their work in that kind of situation. I think they get used to with that situation.
There were sacks of soybeans, maize, vitamin food, etc., etc., etc. and the manager was showing all the ingredient samples from the sacks. I was amazed by the personality of the manager and he was trying his best to give us information as much as he could where he was not getting any benefit from it. I really appreciate what he has done for us.
There I noticed a little chamber and in front of the chamber there was a big hole covered by an iron net and I acknowledged that all workers just throw the metal on the surface of the iron net and the machine takes a certain amount of ingredient through the hole.
There were mixers, grinders, and various types of machines and I am not going to bore you with giving details because if is start giving all the details then It might be too lengthy to finish. But I can share some pictures of those machines.
Most of the machines were complicated and automated but all of the commands were done from a place. The controlling was done from the control office which exists on the first floor. The temperature of the factory was high and the controlling office was like a paradise because there was AC. Entering There I saw a circuit-type diagram on the wall and it was designed how all the machines are operating.
After coming out from the factory I went to the technician's room and there I saw a machine and the price of the machine was more than $0.30 Million. It was a very little machine and hearing the price I was shocked. The work of the machine was providing the best formula and for the quality check of feed.
At last, I visited the lab and the lab has a high facility for experiments and various kinds of expensive machines and chemicals were available there for research and I spent some time there. I wish to work in that kind of lab.
After that, we thanked the manager for his good cooperation and for his friendly behavior. I personally thanked him again. I gained a lot of practical knowledge for the trip.
I hope you also visited there with me through my post. So feel free to share your thoughts also.
