Hello, fellow Lakwatsero (Travellers) in Hive, How are you, hoping you have a great adventure this day. For today's travel blog, we will visit another Island in Pangasinan Philippines. This is a continuation of my previous blog #LakwatsaniIntoy Diary 058 talking about our Summer outing Escaped last April 2024 that highlights the beauty of Hundred Islands National Park.
Are you ready for adventure? Let's Go!
" Old Scout Island "
This time we will visit a secluded island called Old Scout Island of Alaminos Pangasinan Philippines. This is one of the scenic Islands in the group and It is lesser-known compared to the others. Yes, few people visited this area and It is the best place for people who don't want more crowds.
This beautiful island is known for its camping activities for Boy Scouts of the Philippines. It is the ground where youth leaders are being molded and trained to be great leaders of the future. As of this days's, it is still linked to the Boy Scout of the Philippines and is still used for scouting events and training grounds.
The Island is smaller than the others but it offers a lot of adventure that you can enjoy and be excited to experience once you visit. Some of the Activities you don't want to miss are the following:
- Camping - As I said earlier it is a camping ground for scouting, it has wide area where you can set up tents, have some overnight, and do some burned fires. You can enjoy star gazing at night and hear the sound of nature.
- Diving and Snorkeling - The Marine life beneath the ocean of this Island is healthy and beautiful. If you love to explore under the sea and discover the reefs around. this place can offer what you want. Actually, this is one of the best parts of this Island. You will be amazed by the colorful corals and Fishes.
- Swimming and Sunbathing - The Island has also a pristine beach. With white sand together with the cold crystal clear water. The place is quiet and it's perfect for someone looking for peace with a beautiful view of the beach.
- Kayaking and Boating - The Water around the Island is calm, it is perfect for paddleboarding. You can rent a Kayak on the main Island and bring it here then enjoy roaming around with your friends.
- Fishing - The Island is abundant in marine life, you can enjoy fishing with your friends and loved ones around and make food out of it.
- Cliff Diving - Some parts of the Island are rocky cliffs where you and your friends can enjoy jumping, Just be careful with pointed rocks that can scratch you and get injured.
On this Island, we stayed for forty-five minutes, It is the second to the last Island we've visited and we really have fun and are amazed at what we discover. I enjoy so much in freediving and snorkeling, the reefs are enticing to dive in and a lot of Fishes are around us and it's like playing with us when we dive in. Imagine yourself surrounded by fish, it is an unforgettable experience.
While some of us are enjoying diving, some of my colleagues are staying on the cliff side and others are enjoying the fine white sand and sitting and relaxing while having the best beach view of the island.
How to reach the Island?
The island is two kilometers from the wharf of Lup Alaminos, its the nearest access to the Island. You can use boat as transportation, It will take you ten to fifteen minutes to reach the Island. Usually, this rout is part of the Tour package around the Hundred Islands, just make sure to coordinate with your Tour guide so you can experience this place.
Tips for Travelers
Bring your own Supplies - The island is not fully developed, unlike the others. There are no establishments or stores on the island that's why it is advisable to bring your own food, water, and supplies if you plan to stay in the Island for a while.
Check the Weather - In Travelling always check the weather stat. especially going in this Island. Weather can affect the island and the transportation.
