Hi Everyone, This is my first post on Haveyoubeenhere Community and I would like to share my experience on a short trip to Palambak Island (Part of Banyak Islands). Before I go further, I would like to give a general description of the Banyak Islands. "Banyak" itself has a meaning of "Many" and this island could also be said as an Archipelago because consists of a chain of the island.
Banyak Islands were located in Aceh Province (Indonesia), in Full at Banyak Islands district, Aceh Singkil Regency. You could reach this place by taking a flight to Medan then continued by ground transportation for about 8-9 hours to reach Aceh Singkil. Afterward, you have to take a ferry that will took you to Banyak Islands. It will take about 4 hours before finally arrive at Banyak Island.
The Ferry will dock at the pier located on Balai Island. Balai island is the administrative center of the many island districts. This island is the location with the most densely populated compared to other islands. You can also easily find lodging and restaurants in this place.
To reach Palambak Island we have to use a boat which will take about 20 minutes. The day I take the trip, the weather was so nice, the waters are very calm without any wind and waves. During the trip you will also be spoiled by the very beautiful scenery of the presence of islands that have their own characteristics
There are some local residents that were in the same boat as me and they are also taking a short vacation at that time. After a very enjoyable trip, we finally reach palambak Island. Here I attach a map preview of Palambak Island. This island has no villagers, only consists of a coconut garden and 3 resorts as you could see on the map.
The bottom contour of the waters is quite gentle but the sand substrate is less dense because it sinks when I stepped on it. As in this covid situation, there is no traveler spotted on this island. It become very calming, even I can hear the sound of the water slowly reaching the shore.
For information, all resorts in this area were built with the concept of nature so it is perfect for those of you who want to get away from the bustle of the capital which is full of crowds.
This island has a long and amazing coastline. I noticed that the condition of the beach around the resort is very well maintained and very rarely found trash. But unfortunately, on the beach which is located quite far from the resort, the cleanliness is very poorly maintained. I found so much trash of various kinds even from foreign countries.
I and my friends collect some of the trash and bring it to the resort then put it into the trash can. I also ask some resort staff about the trash, they say that most of the trash comes from outside the island. The garbage is carried by the current and finally washed up on the beach. They also recognize that the beach is located quite far away, beyond their daily reach so that it is only cleaned when they are passing through the location.
Overall it was a very enjoyable trip and I do happy to spend time on that island. I also admire the resort staff who care about the environment around them. I think this is what can I share with you all on this occasion. I do visit some islands during my time in Banyak Islands, and I will share the experience on the other island at another time. See you Guys.
As a piece of additional information, I took all these photos using my smartphone (iPhone XR). Once again, thank you and see you !
