When heading to Yangon city, we can only take a plane. Usually there are only direct flights from Bangkok and there are only a few flights. Estimated arrival in Yangon at night, because there is only an option from Don Mueang in the afternoon. So, you have to be really careful to get here.
It can be said that at that time I was lucky to be able to enter Yangon city without such strict inspection. When we arrived at the airport, we exchanged money into dollars that had been prepared, but because I planned to exchange money near the hotel, I only exchanged a little money.
I knew that we didn't have much time that night. Chased by the deadline to exchange money and had to go to the Shwedagon pagoda. I forgot that there was a curfew in Yangon which meant that at 10.00 pm I had to get to the hotel immediately. After talking to the taxi driver, we exchanged money with him. He got dollars and we got kyat.
When I arrive at the Shwedagon pagoda, I was really amaze by what I saw. This is a pagoda with a stupa covered in gold. The real gold. Can you imagine how many tons of gold are covering the stupa? The color is really stunning and reflects the light. Of course, the stupa is highlighted by really strong lights. It is clear that this pagoda is very valuable for Myanmar and also Buddhists around the world.
Do you remember my story about to the Sule Pagoda? Here it is also the same, that there are stuff belonging to Siddhattha Gotama who is the Buddha and the guru. This is where there is a strand of Siddhattha Gotama hair which is kept and believe to be something very sacred and valuable for Buddhists in the world. So, the Shwedagon Pagoda and Sule Pagoda are believe to be the most sacred places to pray.
I was able to get to this place thanks to a strong courage and recklessness. Although the travel warning and curiosity were finally resolved, how everyone said that this place has such great power, it turned out to be true. I can't describe how, but it feels very calm and this place is like a different door.
When I first entered, what I felt was like a very thin breeze, a melodious voice, and also tranquility. Something that can probably only be felt but cannot be described with words. I hope someday you can come here and feel it.
Call me Isdarmady, sometimes Mady, Putra or anything you want. I have a pretty long name but call me very nicely. There are many things I like, especially hydroponics and coffee, sometimes I also like traveling and eating whatever I want. Life should be like that, there must be many things you like so you can live well. Of course, what you want is a dream, so, when you have a dream then what you have to do is to achieve that dream, don't just let it be a dream.
