There are many free places to visit in Yangon. However, if you're short on time, you can visit some of the places I've previously discussed on worldmappin. This is my way of introducing wonderful places in Myanmar while traveling around it.
Yangon is the only city with airport access from abroad. It hasn't been the capital since the military junta took power, but it was the former capital. There are many attractions for tourists to enjoy, one of which is the Statue of Yali, located right in the heart of Yangon.
The Statue of Yali is a large park, with a large monument in the center surrounded by numerous animal statues, particularly lions. It represents Myanmar's art and culture. The statue enclose a stunning with gold colored monument. It stands firm in the center of the park and bears a meaningful inscription in the Burmese language.
In the city center, surrounded by Yangon important buildings, there are churches, government buildings, the Sule Temple, European-style hotels, and much more. This place is unlike anything else in Myanmar. The landscape is captivating, and I was amaze when I stood right next to the statue.
The statue was so perfect and stunning, coupled with the pristine and lush garden. Green in stretch as far as the eye could see, the sky was a radiant blue, with not even a hint of clouds or rain. This what it was like that morning, reflect in the few pictures I took. It shows how much I truly enjoyed this short morning in Yangon.
Since 2021, Yangon has seen a decline in development. Even in the city center, there are few high rise buildings. Some of these buildings have even to stop due to lack of investor interest, particularly in hotel and office buildings. One of the most famous luxury hotels with a classic building has closed its doors. I think everyone knows the reason.
There were many visitors taking part in the park. Some people jogging, sit in the park, sunbathe, and much more. This spot is a favorite among Myanmar residents for its beautiful landscape, and it's also refreshing thanks to the trees and plants surround it.
This is reason enough to recommend this spot if you're visiting Yangon. You might even pass by this spot after visiting Sule Pagoda, like me, taking a photo right at the Statue of Yali with Sule Pagoda in the background.
Call me Isdarmady, sometimes Mady, Putra or anything you want. I have a pretty long name but call me very nicely. There are many things I like, especially hydroponics and coffee, sometimes I also like traveling and eating whatever I want. Life should be like that, there must be many things you like so you can live well. Of course, what you want is a dream, so, when you have a dream then what you have to do is to achieve that dream, don't just let it be a dream.
