I never thought that I would visit this island. It was not part of the plan. I visited my bestie in Davao City last December 2018.
We have always been travelling together since we were in Europe. And we almost spent our time, days off work, vacations together. Even though we are both in a relationship. Third-wheeling is not a hindrance. Our partners need to accept that dating me is having extra me or her around.
So after having a day tour in the city and rainy night we decided to jump into a jeepney and headed to the port where you only pay 10 pesos each to reach the island by barge.
This island is called Samal island. One of Davao's tourist and local beach destinations because of its beautiful white beaches and good resorts.
This is my best friend ๐ As she carries my backpack and sling bag. Yeah! She got my back! ๐(She knows I'm lazy! ๐น)
This is another spontaneous trip. That we don't know where to stay and sleep for the night. It's just me and her all the time. Doing a lot of crazy things sometimes.
So we asked everyone on the boat
where is the best and most affordable place to stay for a night or so?
Everyone is suggesting we not stay in the port areA since it's crowded and the beach is not that white. One girl told us that there's a place called "Kaputian" where you can only hire a motorbike for 100 pesos more or less or take the bus which is more convenient and cheaper to get there. We thought it was only a few minutes like 15-20. But it feels like forever. This place is where the bus is having their last stop. ๐ We thought it was just around the corner (the white beach) but it's far away than we expected.
And we had a flat tire bus that took us even longer than expected. Life is just full of surprises especially when you're travelling. ๐น
Then, we went by motorbike for almost an hour and pay 100 pesos each. To unknown destination. Then anxiety burst out. Like "I did not tell my Dad or anybody at home. I always have anxiety when travelling in Mindanao even though I was born and raised in this beautiful place. Worrying about how Dad reacts and he doesn't even know where I went. I always remember his facial expressions and how he'll have a long sermon and tell me okay! You're big enough to decide about your life. I'm not a Papas girl. But, my father travels a lot during his younger years around Mindanao. So, he probably knows where is the safe place to go or not.
The road is a bit okay then until it's getting closer and closer to the place. It's getting worst when it goes down to the beach. Rocky ( very rocky and holes around) it's not cemented road and it's a just rough road all the way. But, we are so happy that we manage it with some smiles.
It was just us when we arrived. And it's kinda cool as it's so quiet. It's a long white beach and it has some neighbouring resorts that are abandoned. So, we only stayed in a small room. And it's perfectly fine as it's only for one night.
The "Alorro Beach Resort". It's a small resort but it has everything. From a small grocery store to a karaoke area. There are also big rooms for family and friends who would love to stay.
It's white sand. Perfect sunrise beach area to chase the first light of the sunrise. Then we woke to see these people around. Like! What happened? Where do these people come from? ๐น They arrived very early in the morning and they're a big family in a truck from Bukidnon. And they will be staying there until Christmas Eve. And they said some of their relatives will come on the next day. We are so happy that we are only staying for one night.
We only pay 500 each to stay the night. It's a good deal having the front beach white sand and a beautiful sunrise. Though it's a little bit far may be compared to other resorts. But, it's worth it.
We had a great time even though we only stayed for a night. A lifetime experience for us. ๐Another page on the book! And I'm sure I will be coming back again there one day and annoy my best friend to chase more white sand beaches and waterfalls maybe.๐ฅด
