Hello everyone. In my previous posts, I presented you with a piece of nature of Rtanj mountain in Serbia, and today I am going to share a piece of its past with you. So, let's step into the Rtanj mountain museum.
This museum was created thanks to the collection of old items by a family that carefully built it over the years. There are items in the museum that are as old as 5 to 7 centuries and show what life used to be like in the mountainous region of eastern Serbia.
The most attention is attracted by the cash register, which is more than a century old, and was used in the pharmacy at that time as the first cash register in that area.
A lot of items that were used in households were exhibited, dishes, utensils, tools...
The founders collected them in various ways, most often by buying them from families who no longer needed them. Looking at them, we can get the impression that life used to be both simple and difficult at the same time.
People didn't have more than what they needed, and for what they needed, a lot of effort was invested. The furniture did not seem very comfortable and when the first TV was bought in the area, it was a great joy.
The children had nothing but cradles. Some children did not even have their own place to sleep, so they fought alone for comfort in poor conditions.
They made their own toys and the rag ball for soccer was their favorite.
It seems that in the past there was more love for music, so many families tended to have their children learn to play a musical instrument.
Records were also played and having a gramophone was a matter of prestige.
In the past, newspapers were read much more often. Various magazines with interesting topics and titles were on display in the museum.
Everything was simple, except for the clothes, which were layered and seemed to take a long time to put on. 😊 But still, the traditional folk costumes are very beautifully designed and each had its own occasion.
We can see that different periods of the recent and distant past are included in this museum, and it was very interesting to walk through time there.
When I went outside, I was followed by a feeling of peace and the need to make my life simpler and spend as much time as possible in the surrounding nature. And that's exactly what I did.
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
Greetings!
Jelena
