Hello everyone. While I was looking at my photos from vacation in Greece from two months ago, among them I found photos of the churches of St. Demetrios and St. Ioannis and came up with the idea to publish a post about them.
The Church of St. Demetrios is located on a hill in the old part of the city, which, despite the construction of many new guest houses, has remained quite authentic.
Saint Demetrios is one of the favorite saints in Orthodox Christianity, especially in Greece. He is highly respected because he gave his life for Christianity and inspired his people to follow this religion. He was known as a martyr for his faith.
It is a historical church, dating from the 18th century. The bell tower seems to be completely authentic.
The church has such a high position that it looks like it watches over the whole city and guards it. When I went inside, it was so peaceful and quiet that I was a little embarrassed to take photos, but I took a few photos because the priest allowed it. He was very kind.
It was no ordinary church. It is a temple where you can come whenever you want to find some peace.
There are many churches in Stavros, and one of them is the church of St. Ioannis, which is located on the beach. When I first saw the church on the beach, it was a bit weird to me.
But when I saw how many people visited it, I realized that it is good that it is there. It is amazing that there is always someone inside, both tourists and locals.
It is very small and is located in the garden of the beach bar.
There are a lot of icons inside.
The windows have stained glass which makes the interior very colorful and pleasant.
Candles are available and anyone can take as much as they want and pay for them as much as they can.
What I could conclude is that people in Greece are closely connected to their religion and have a free spirit that spreads positive energy at every step. Entering their temples and churches is an experience that leaves deep impressions and reminds us of the peace we often forget we need.
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
Greetings!
Jelena
