Last Friday I went on a trip to Slovenia. It is one of the countries to which I am always happy to return. This time the trip was special because it was my son's first airplane flight. From the airport in Belgrade, we left for Ljubljana early in the morning.
The flight lasted about 45 minutes and my son was very excited while looking at the surroundings through the airplane window.
He couldn't believe we were flying above the clouds.
When I saw the greenery and dense forests, I knew we were arriving in beautiful Slovenia.
We took a local bus from the airport to Ljubljana and when we arrived, the city was just starting to wake up.
From the bus station, we walked along the street that leads straight to the city center. The streets were still empty because it was early.
We enjoyed the silence of charming Ljubljana.
We reached Preseren Square through the well-known streets. This square is dedicated to the famous Slovenian poet France Preseren.
Walking through this part of the old town is as romantic as its poetry. The beautiful red church on this square is a recognizable symbol of Ljubljana. It is a Franciscan church from the 17th century.
Preseren Square is always full of tourists and people often stop here to look at the bronze model of Ljubljana.
My son was especially interested in analyzing and seeing where we were and where we will go next.
We started a pleasant walk along the river Ljubljanica. There are many cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy the views by the river.
My sister and mom were drinking coffee in a cafe with my son.
And I used that time to walk alone through the picturesque streets of the center of Ljubljana.
The beautiful green Ljubljanica has a very soothing effect, with the chirping of birds and the chatter of people.
You have to love this place as you feel its relaxed spirit. The most beautiful views are from the bridges on the Ljubljanica, romantic and inspiring. Whenever I find myself in this place, I wish to stay there forever.
And not only because of the beauty of the city, but also because everything is arranged so that you feel comfortable. The streets are clean, there is no garbage, people are responsible for the environment and you can see that they care about their city.
I was wandering through the streets around Ljubljanica, in search of a souvenirs and beautiful views.
I passed a narrow street that is specific because of the bronze masterpiece that looks like a river of unusual faces flowing in the middle of that interesting street.
I asked the locals what it represented. They say that it is the work of a famous artist and represents grimaces that show various facial expressions - sad, crying, scared... He was inspired by the fact that there are many different faces in the world and that each of us has many faces. The same artist, whose name I have unfortunately forgotten, made some other sculptures that can be seen in Ljubljana, such as the unusual sculptures on the so-called Butcher's bridge, where the butchers were, hence the name.
Today it is a bridge of love where couples in love lock their love with padlocks.
The Butcher's bridge is located opposite the green market and the open kitchen that I wrote about in the previous post. After the market, you come across the famous Dragon Bridge, which is famous for its dragon sculptures.
I crossed the bridge and continued walking straight to the bus station because the bus that took me to Kranjska Gora, my final destination, arrived soon.
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
Greetings!
