After more than two years, finally I was able to fly again out of town. It was beach days on Boracay Island. I, together with my travel buddies stayed on the island for 3 days and 2 nights. It was from Sunday to Tuesday. I was so glad, I got the chance to visit Boracay Island, and had an Airplane ride again after a couple of years with heightened pandemic restrictions. It was so delighting to think and see that beautiful places are now open, welcoming visitors again.
Our Boracay getaway started at 12:00 noon, our departure time from Cebu to the island. Getting there wasn't easy and smooth. We landed at Caticlan Airport, then booked a van transfer to Jetty port where we boarded a ferry boat going to the island. It wasn't good though as Jetty port was packed with people, there were long lines, and entering the port took more time than we expected.
On the island, we booked Aloha Hotel as our shelter for 3 days and 2 nights. We arrived at the hotel at around 4:00 in the afternoon. We rested for a while, and by 4:30, we headed out for dinner as we already got hungry after the long travel from Cebu.
After dinner, we started roaming station 2 of Boracay Island. By the way, our hotel is in station 2, so we had station 2 for our first night on the island.
My last visit to Boracay was in 2018, a month before it had been closed for rehabilitation. It was a lot noisier then than this time of my visit. Tables, chairs, and stalls were scattered everywhere on the shore. This time, it was more organized, more peaceful, and clean making our first-night shore walking better. There were still live bands though, in some food establishments on the island like Hennan, and dancing to their music made our moment on the shore even merrier. It was a whole lot of fun!
The next day, we went out of the hotel at 6:00 in the morning for an early beach stroll. We actually planned to get up a little earlier and chase the sunset by the beach, but we were not able to beat the time we set for that as everyone was really tired of yesterday's travel. So we'll see the next day.
We got "Taho" or Silken Tofu while strolling. I was so glad as I had been craving for it for so long. Never did I think, that I would have it in the most perfect place, at the most perfect timing. It was a "Taho" morning by the beach.
As we continued with our early morning stroll, we were approached by a guy who proffered us activities to do on the island. There were really a whole lot of activities to enjoy, but since our budget was just limited, we only had an ATV ride at Shingley's, however it also included 2 side activities, the river and Kawa bath. The arrangement was by 9:00 am, we would be picked up at our hotel, and transported to the mainland of Caticlan for the activity.
By the way, before that ride and everything else on the other side of Boracay, I got my hair braided first the "Bora" way.
From the hotel, we were brought to a port where we took a 15-minute speedboat ride. On the mainland, we got another 30-minute ride via van transport to Shingley ATV and Resort.
Shingley has a wide rocky space which made our ATV experience a memorable one. The trail is bumpy and winding. There are also steep areas which for me was the most challenging part. Well, it was already my second ATV experience so I thought this time it would just be a lot easier and more relaxed for me. However, it was scarier, making me super serious with my driving. Haha! There were no chill moments except for the must-stop pictorial. There were bumpy and rocky steep surfaces making the trail not easy to finish. But it was super fun and adventure. I was happy and proud I had finished the trail.
It was almost 11:00 when we finished the ATV ride. And so while waiting for lunch at 12:00, we went down and enjoy the rest of the time at the river, and "Kawa" bath.
After all the activities and entertainment at Shingley, we headed back to the hotel by 2:00 in the afternoon. The same transport, we took van and speedboat. We arrived at Aloha at 3:00 pm. We rested for a while, took a freshwater bath, and prepared for our booked dinner buffet at Henann Crystal Sands.
We headed out to Henann at 5:00 pm since their dinner buffet is open at that time. The resort is just within the station, however, the weather was not fine then, it was raining, so we just took a motorcycle to Henann. It was just a 5-minute ride.
It was my very first time trying the buffet at Henann. It was expensive, like yes. It's almost 17USD per head. But we already had talked about it even before flying. So it was already a go. I was happy that finally I was able to try Henann's buffet. Their foods were awesome. They offer a wide array of different cuisines my palate loved so much. I would say that their food offers worth the price.
We were all really full, and the rain stopped, so after dinner, we stroll for a while before going back to the hotel. It was a cold night stroll.
At the hotel, we started fixing and packing our clothes up for the next day's departure.
Our last day on Boracay Island started as early as 5:30 in the morning. Again, we missed the sunrise, it was already bright when we went out. The same routine with the our first day, we got "Taho", went on beach swimming then, and had breakfast after.
Before getting back to Aloha, we stopped by some souvenir shops where I had bought Boracay shirts for my parents.
At exactly 12:00 noon, we checked out of the hotel, and headed back to Caticlan airport.
